Which exterior paint?

Have to paint the house. Went looking at the paints at Lowes and realized paint comes in many different quality levels. I do know price does not always mean better but I am willing to spend the extra on the better paint. Does anyone have any experience with Sherwin Williams "Showcase" at $195 5 gal or Valspar Reserve at $220 5 Gal or Olympic "one" $137 5 gal?

I can get the Behr paint from Home depot if better. I live in Jacksonville Fl so UV protection is important.

This is going to be sprayed if that makes a difference from a light blue to a tannish brown color

Any advice / guidance is much appreciated.

No matter what paint you use(I like Dutchboy Maxbond myself) since you are spraying, and it is outdoors, back-rolling is highly recommended. It will push the paint into the surface pores and greatly lessen the amount of chipping and peeling in the future.

I also like the Dutchboy Maxbond but I doubt if you will find it in Florida. Consumer Reports' current ratings for exterior paint shows Behr Premium Plus Ultra Exterior (Home Depot) and Clark + Kensington Exterior (Ace) share the #1 spot.

I would stay away from Valspar (cheap quality), but Behr paint has given me good service so far.

I painted my shed this weekend ( roller and brush) using Valspar Reserve Exterior. There was a $20 rebate per can, so it was a good value.

I know, I know...go to a paint store. Our driveway was sealcoated on Thursday so I couldn't get a car out to play and decided to tackle the shed painting job.

Obviously, it's too early to tell how long it will last but the shed turned out very well. I used semi-gloss on the building and gloss for the trim. Covered well, dried to a nice sheen. Yesterday I did the building and the trim today. I also painted the porch columns and the back door while I was at it.

I'm anxious to see how it wears over time...but so far I'm pleased.

I used Sherwin Williams Duration on our whole house repaint and color change and so far so good. It's not cheap but it does work (at least after 2 years). Wait for the 40% off sale to buy it though, otherwise the price is out of line. It's about $70 a gallon when not on sale.

I use Behr ultra. It works well and just about always is at the top of the reviews. And it's easy to get since there's always a Home Depot nearby.

I'm also in the process of painting with Sherwin-Williams Duration paint. Like the other poster said, wait for the 40% off sale if you can. I chose the Duration paint in part because it is very highly rated by Consumer Reports.

One thing I noticed about the paint I put on yesterday is the paint seems pretty thick and kinda shiny. I am using satin sheen so it shouldn't be glossy.

I love Sherwin Williams they have sales look for them they have many levels of protectin I don't like to paint so buy the best and let I ride
