I am trying to figure out the best finish for my new shop floor (see introductory thread). I been doing my research on YouTube, figuring out what most of the car repair channels do. It seems like epoxy if the most popular. I did find a one person who did a single coat kind of glaze sealant. I am wondering how such a single coat system would stand up to wear?

I resolved to get 3 estimates from various contractors offering finishes. The first one is for a 5 stage epoxy finish consisting of 2 coats of grey epoxy, 2 coats of Urethane and sand for traction. That is $7/sqft. I was also offered one less coat of grey epoxy for $6.25/sqft.

Does that sound OK for a system, the layers and the price? I have one more contractor coming in to give me a bid. The other one seems too busy to come and bid.

Hi, you can get our www.armorcladepoxy.com 100% solids three layer (primer, epoxy, topcoat) with flecks in kit form for around $1.50/sq ft. It's easy to apply, comes with a lifetime hot tire lifting warranty, and we have hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers using this exact system.

If you are inclined to do the project yourself, no need to spend $7/ft.

That's expensive! I agree with Armorpoxy. The DIY route will save a lot of $$ if you are willing to do it yourself. Just take your time and follow the instructions!
