Which first, ceiling or interior wall sheathing?

I'm not quite there yet, but I'm approaching the point in my build where I'll be ready to put up a ceiling and/or interior wall sheathing.

I'm going to be running outlets surface-mount, so the advantage to doing the wall sheathing first is that I can have power without needing a long drop cord.

The advantage for ceiling first is that I'd be able to install (some) lights prior to working on the walls/outlets.

I'm leaning towards doing the ceiling first, but would like input from those who have been there, done that.

Agree with above post ceiling first. Most rooms/buildings are not perfectly square, so by doing the ceiling first, the wall material helps cover ceiling gaps at walls.

I'm doing that right now too. I went ceiling first, primarily for lighting. I can run a cord, no big deal, but there's no temp. replacement for decent light.

+1 If it is really out of square and you are building a showplace, make the ceiling and upper walls the same color. Put a contrasting band at waist height or the whole bottom half.

In my first place, girlfriend picked out a pinstripe wall paper. **** drove me crazy. Not only was room not square, one wall bulged out in the middle, and some kind of optical illusion was messing with the ceiling. It all looked fine when everything was white.

What materials are you using ?

I put ribbed metal on the ceiling in the house garage after the walls were done. It allowed me to screw the J-channel directly into the OSB walls to a nice tight fit.

If I were using drywall, OSB, plywood or something similar, I would do the ceiling first.
