IF I decide to use tiles and not epoxy which tiles would hold up best using floor jacks etc in my workshop garage ?? How hard to apply ?? Do they glue down ??

Cost ?? Would it look funny in a small 16 x 24 garage ??

These would be my two favorites for your purpose outside of going with epoxy:

If cost is not an option, Ceramic Floor Tiles are the best flooring you can go with. For your space you would be looking at around $3,500 including trim, shipping, etc. I could go on and on about what make's these the best, but simply stated; they look great and are extremely durable.

For a less costly option our Diamond Tread Floor Tiles are excellent. A garage your size you would run about $1,500 to $1,800. These are easy to install. You simply stick them down to the floor. The adhesive is very strong, so there is no worry of slipping, pulling up, or anything like that. They are strong and very sturdy without being too ridged (in case your floor isn't perfectly flat). Great for a working garage!

Obviously paint is a much cheaper option (and my personal favorite). It would run about $200 to do your garage space. It is a pretty easy DIY project if you have a spare weekend.

Derek,

I was reading the instructions for your floor paint. Will the moisture test work if the floor has a clear sealer on it already?

The Hydrostatic Pressure Test should be done directly to the concrete since that is the surface the paint will be applied to and the sealer needs to be removed previous to painting. Unfortunately we cannot make the assumption that the paint will be ok if the sealer is ok because the two products behave differently and the sealer may not show negative effects of the moisture.

The best way to do the test before removing the sealer from your entire floor would be to sand the sealer off in a 1'x1' section for testing. This can be done in a corner or other area that is less noticeable. With the bare section run the test and reseal the small area if you decide not to paint. Also, it would be best to do the test soon since we are starting to get out of the rainy season, and it is best to do the testing when the most moisture is present.

Any "quality" commercial-grade porcelain tile would be suitable and durable for the garage. Some of the cheaper ones may not hold up as well, but you should be able to find quite a few between $3-5 s/f. They of course, go up from there. If your garage is unheated, make sure you get something that is frost resistant. Also, your Thinset/mortars are important.

Check with a local tile/flooring store as opposed to a Home Depot/Lowes. You want to make sure are getting something that is suitable.

If you need any specifics, you can pm me.

We don't have any retailers in Canada right now, but we can ship paint across the border. The shipping costs shouldn't be too bad, but the duties can be rough (there are some ways around this if you process your own paperwork). If you are interested give us a call and one of our reps can quote shipping costs for you. 800-345-5789
