I have quotes for Overhead door model 494 at $750 per door, Garaga standard + at $875 and Haas model 2010 at $875. Any expierence with any of them? I think I am going between the 494 and the 2010 because they are both 2 inch and the garaga is 1 3/4. This is going in a insulated and heated garage. I want the best air sealing possible. They are also 9x9 in size.

Have you gotten a price on a Wayne Dalton door yet?

I don't know either of those brands, but I'm impressed with Wayne Dalton for both commercial, and residential (they have products for both applications).

For clarity, I get no compensation for this.

I got a Haas 2000 series 9' wide x 8' tall + entire track and spring kit for $650 this summer. It was FOB the local dealer and I installed it all. The only change I made was to source trim-colored stainless steel screws to install the lip seal asm (over the trim-colored nails which were supplied). On my other existing doors the nails started pulling out after some time and leaving gaps thru which I can see light between the "body" of the lip seal and the aluminum trim. I picked Haas because of the reputation and extra thickness. Garaga was quoted here for same application as > $2500 installed.

A local company installed my door on Friday. Wayne Dalton metal backed 16' x 8', 11' 9" high lift in white with no Windows installed for $1300. Very happy with it.

I had given little thought to Wayne dalton, I had looked briefly but was unimpressed with their construction and reputation. Maybe I'll take another look. These are cash and carry prices by the way with high lift tracks for the 12 foot cieling. I am looking at "flush" panel which has just a wood grain texture to it. I will be painting the doors the same color as my garage. I have transom windows above each door so I thought windows in th doors would look busy. I like the overhead door and the haas because they are both 2 inch doors which to me means they are more substantial which equals longevity. What's most important to me is air sealing between each panel and a good seal around te perimeter. Also metal gauge is important, the doors will be painted a dark red so I don't want warping of the panels. The garage faces east so it only takes a lot of sun untill about 12.

Just as a point of price comparison...

We bought two garage doors from Home Depot and installed them ourselves.

Clopay insulated doors, metal on both sides. These have the embossed panels on the outside, with flat textured panels on inside, really nice and were surprisingly easy to install.

Clopay Premium Series 8 ft. x 7 ft. 12.9 R-Value Intellicore Insulated Solid Almond Garage Door $685.00

Clopay Premium Series 9 ft. x 8 ft. 12.9 R-Value Intellicore Insulated Solid Almond Garage Door $852.00

The Clopay factory is in Troy, Ohio. They build a great product.
