Hey guys. I'm sure this question is posted numerous times a week. However, I just bought a new house with roughly a 4 car garage. I'm from Madison, Wisconsin(so it's damn cold). At the moment, I have a 60,000 BTU torpedo heater that just isn't cutting it. It stinks, its loud and I want it gone. What would you suggest for a space like this?

Rough specs for the garage:
1200 sq. ft.
10' ceilings
Insulated
Plenty of real estate for a wall mount/vent

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm not the most knowledgeable with these things so please be kind if I don't understand things. Please help! I need to work on my cars! :3gears:

Get a reznor 75k btu, about 15 inches tall, mounts 1 inch from the ceiling. Or if you're on a budget the mr heater 75 or 80k btu (lowes sells it) is a decent heater too. If you don't have NG and electric easily available you'll sink some money in getting that run too.

I went through the same process just before winter (Although I spent the previous few months investigating options, venting options, brands, etc). I read alot of opinions and reviews. My choices for best units came down to a Reznor and Sterling GG (Exact same as Beacon Morris). I ended up going with the Beacon Morris for several reasons.

1) Highly regarded on internet and by a local contractor
2) Came out of the box adaptable for either LP or Nat gas
3) Came out of the box adaptable for standard or separated combustion
4) Lower price point that Reznor
5) Menards carries them and every few months they have a $50 off sale on them

Most recomended underzising rather than oversizing so you do NOT have too short of run cycles, and so you get better air flow movement.

For my 900 sqft attached, insulated, and 5/8" drywalled garage I went with the Beacon Morris BRT45. It has been the best money I have ever spent!!! I went with separated combustion also by using the "HeatFab SC" vent pipe. Install turned out great, sinces October it has been set at 55 F 24/7 most gas bills were down compared to last year somehow, I assuem the heated garage assists some for the attached house...who knows Im not complaining. When I go out to work I will often turn up to 70 if the wife is out there, it gets there in about 30 minutes.
