Looking to mount a air hose in my shop. Is there much difference between the Earthquake XT, Central Pneumatic and the Diablo reels? It would see casual use.

I know one person with the Central Pneumatic retractable reel and another with the Central Pneumatic manual wind reel. They both started leaking from the rotating joint in well under a year.

LOL... And I've had two HF manual reels in my shop for well over 14 years and neither one leaks... And they both get a lot of use...

I've had my Central Pneumatic retractable for probably 15 years... works great. The rubber hose is starting to crack and probably is due to be replaced. The o-ring went bad last year as it began to leak a little from the rotating "joint" ... took all of 15 minutes to replace it. In other words, it has proven to be a reliable tool in my shop.

I have the retractable in one shop and the manual wind in the other shop. Been there approx. 10 to12 years neither one leaks.

We have the often on sale for $54.99 Central Pneumatic hose reel in our 2 car garage. It works fine with no leaks after 2 years. If it ever leaks, you just put some new O-rings in. Thats what I did with my 20+ year old expensive hose reel when it started leaking.

I honestly don't know why HF even offers the Earthquake reel. I guess for those that like red? Or for those that like to spend more money?

Got a couple cheapies, one hf with the orange hose, it had fingers and I welded some rings on around it, works absolutely flawless 20 years. Use it every day.

I bought the grey northern tool one on sale, seems to be made a bit better than my brothers harbor freight one (black reel, red hose.)

I bought the black one, it has a crappy red hose, swivel leaked a little when I put a better hose on it, but fixed it. I found a good coupon for the red one, it looks identical except the red paint and 2 stickers that say diablo. It may be a tiny bit thicker steel, but the hose is definitely better.

I've got the black Central Pneumatic one. Ditched the red hose it came with right from start. Put on the black Goodyear hose that HF used to sell. Had it for like 8 yrs now, no leaks, never had a problem with it.

I got the cheap manual reel for the house and for the money it can’t be beat. We had a couple of the black 50 footers at work and got a little over a year out of them but they are used every day.
