Which impact wrenches

I am after a 3/8 drive impact wrench and a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench.

I want top quality and do not want anything asian made (Japan may be okay). Is IR still made in the US? Are there any other good brands?

With the 3/8 drive, it doesn't need to have too much torque, and would prefer something compact. If I need power, I will crack out the 1/2 inch drive.

Any recomendations?

for 3/8s its a toss up between the Snapon MG325 and the IR 2115Ti (now shipping as MAX version).

price wise the IR is cheaper, they make about the same power, however there had been a few head bolts the IR would not take out that the older Snap On MG31 would.

at home I have my MG31, at work I have the MG325 general use and IR2115 (turned down for trans work)

1/2 the IR 2135Ti has always been great, Matco sells a version also for more money but 2 years warranty instead of 1 offered by IR. I also like the CP 7750 Turbo 2.0. I have not tried the SO MG725 but I have the XT7100 and it is not bad at all but it is larger than the IR and CP guns and seems to make the same power.

at home I have the Matco relabled IR 2135Ti, work I have been using my CP for daily use with the SO and IR as back ups

now where any of these are made as far as I know SOs are made in the US somewhere, the IRs typically used to be made in Japan, I went out and looked at my Matco 1/2 IR relabel and it just says Stow, OH on it, so it must be on the box where it is made. CP is made in ?

I am sure there will be more input, I beat the **** out of this stuff daily, might be over kill for a home owner, but I still like to have the same goodness at home when it comes to an air tool

The IR 2115TiMAX and 2135TiMAX are both made in Athens, Pennsylvania

I have a 1/2" pneumatic IR which has served us well around the shop and it gets heavy use. Also have a Snap-On 1/2" and really not much difference in performance that I can see. The IR seems to get used more.

As an aside, it is great to have a 110V electric impact wrench around as well, for those situations / offsite jobs where air isn't readily available.

It is also nice to be able to just grab the electric when you just have something quick you need to do and you don't want to fire up the compressor, wait, etc.

A buddy of mine has a cordless 3/8 impact, (milwaukee I think) and that sucker is really handy. Hafta get me one of those.

since I do not have a MAC guy anymore, did they get rid of selling Aircats and Nitrocats relabeled as well as the IR? on sale MAC always had the best price on there version of the IR2115

I will probably buy the MG725 one of these weeks when I can work the right deal with him for it. thanks for the input on that

I have a MG31 and a MG725, both are badass impacts the MG725 in particuler (it has almost put my 3/4" in retirement) I will say that the IR's are a little more comfortable in hand though.

I have the mac version of the ingersol 2135ti (AW5500 on mac truck). I got it off of ebay a year and a half ago for 112 shipping and everything, it was new in the box. When I bought it our mac guy said it was going for over 400, which is crazy but it is an awesome gun. The guy next to me bought a snap-on not sure which model and he's always borrowing mine to take things loose that his won't. I have really been pleased with it, it's not extremely loud or heavy. I have a Kobalt 3/8 from Lowes I paid around 50 for and even though it's cheap and made in Japan? It has also been a great gun. I did have to put loctite on the 4 bolts in the back of the head because they started coming loose but again for the money it's a great deal and I've used it every week for almost 2 years.

the ones my rep pushes are... I am sure they have a few that arenot... I did not have much time when I made last post... just wanted to get the jist of my opinion out
Yeah, I was looking at their website, which I'm sure has many more models than the drivers stock. Based on that there is a majority that are not IR.
