I am setting up a small workshop and picked up a HF universal tool stand with will fit my table saw. I was thinking which is better put the table saw on the stand or workbench.
I put my drill press on it currently.
The table saw is still in the box. It's a HF brand to learn on. I noticed tonight the craftsman table saw come with a stand that looks just like the HF universal tool stand.

Without going into the likely issues you’ll have with a HF tablesaw, what you want is to have it so the surface is right around normal table top height. Lower creates a risk that you lean into the blade too much and higher creates a risk that you don’t have sufficient control of the workpiece.

I suspect that having it on top of you workbench would put it too high.

Having it on the stand would be much more versatile in my experience. Put castors on the stand if it doesn't have them.
Being able to roll your equipment outside for larger projects (and to keep a small space clean) is a good option to have. Plus, in a small space, you can wheel the saw into a corner, out of the way when not in use. Get another stand and do the same thing for your drill press... :)

If you have loads of space and need to use the saw all the time, buy a fixed stand or work bench and put it in a place with access from all sides for larger pieces of wood.

I use a fold up saw on a stand. Mine is a Craftsman, but there are plenty of others. It has wheels and is easy to set up and take down. I can fold it up and roll it to an exterior wall so it takes up minimal space when not in use. My use is occasional. I have a smiliar setup for the sliding miter saw -- foldup rolling stand.

I want to build this at some point. It becomes a flat work bench when not using it for the saws.
