Hello everyone! I am in the market for a top quality grease gun that won't be a problem when I try to refill it. Any suggestions? Thanks for the input!

On mine, long flexible tip really helps. Mine is 18" and I would be even happier if it was 24". I do mostly automotive work.

I like the style that you squeeze with one hand. I had a really nice one, but it fell apart. Now I'm just using a $20 WalMart gun, but I transferred over my 18" tip.

I'll be interested to see what the 'pros' suggest here.

This is the style I prefer:

Lincoln pistol grip, the trick to getting a new cartridge to work is knowing when the old one is empty. At the 1st sign of no grease, quit pumping.

Get an Alemite pistol grip gun that you can toggle from either high volume to high pressure.

Last I saw there were still made in the USA.

Read the instructions. Most grease gun frustrations tend to be operator error!!

Maybe there is some NOS around, but all the ones I've seen are Chinese.

I'm a heavy equipment operator so I pump a lot of grease daily. We use Alemites and Lincolns but I really don't think the brand matters all that much. When I put a new tube in I start screwing the barrel into the head but I don't tighten it all the way down at first. I leave it a little loose and slide the plunger in and give it a couple pumps before screwing it down the rest of the way. That usually bleeds any air out and gets the grease flowing easily. You can also take a blob of grease and put it on the inside of the head where the hose connects to it to help get an air tight seal when you screw the barrel back in. I hope that helps

I have a Lincoln pistol grip and a Kubota(re branded Lincoln?). Both have served me very well. I know I prefer the pistol grip over the other types, I ended up giving those away.

All grease guns are basically the same in regards to loading. For general use, the pistol style is nicer. If you grease a lot of stubborn stuff, look for a lever one rated to 10,000 psi. Not all levers can do that so pay attention to psi rating. Brand don't really matter, I like alemite but that don't mean much. I will say I will never buy another legacy grease gun. I paid over $100 for a hand grease gun, the mega boost. Lever action 10,000 psi in a pistol. What a ******** prices of junk. Never did anything but piss me off.
