I love my 4 post. Used for vehicle storage and service work. I haven't had an issue with any type of work. I plan to get a second 4 post in the future.

I have a Challenger 10,000 lbs 2-post in my garage, it's not cheap, but it's manufactured in the USA.....and it shows. The quality is top notch, it runs as smooth as glass, and most importantly I trust it with my life. Sure, there are cheaper import lifts out there, but how many lifts do you plan to buy in your lifetime? Why not buy USA quality? Plus, they hold their value AND parts can be obtained in the event of a problem. (I mean, even something as well built as a Challenger lift may have a problem someday since you may use it for the next 40 or so years. My .02 (Note: Challenger does sell some import models as well, so be sure to ask for a USA made model.)

i have a bendpak hd9. 9000lbs capacity, four post lift.

i retrofitted an existing space, i didnt know what care had been taken with the floor, and i didnt want to try and figure it out, or pound it up and put in a new one. the 4 post doesn't need to be bolted down, and if you do, the bolts are not keeping it from falling over, they are keeping it in place.

my only complaint is that i cannot find a jack try to fit it in "wide" mode, and the extendable one they make looks too compromised for the price that they want for it. at some point, i will get the local steel fab guy to make me one.

there are tradeoffs between two and four posts lifts. before you choose one or the other, i would suggest a bit of research about the positives and negatives of each.

ten foot high, none, but the best choice would be a four lift, with wheel kit, that way you could pull it out in driveway and get full height when needed. my little toyota take 12'6 for me to walk under. Im 5'5

I have 10 foot ceiling as well and have been eyeballing this lift. It's low enough to fit and the price seems great...

this web site:

http://www.bestbuyautoequipment.com

has a huge selection. (btw, i am not affiliated with them, nor have i ever bought anything from them)

one thing you will notice is that some brands list rating agencies approvals. some dont. the ones that dont tend to be cheaper, sometimes substantially cheaper.

there are places i am willing to cut corners. something that holds several thousand pounds above me while i am pounding and torquing on it is not a place that i want to cut corners.

if the socket breaks, and i dont have a replacement, i have to stop until i can get a new one. while i think that unrated lifts are probably safe, and not a hazard, i also think that they are likely being sold to people who dont perform all the recommended maintenance.

like we used to say when talking about motorcycle helmets, if you have a 30$ head, go ahead and get a 30$ helmet.

I'm going to sister some trusses to get full height.

I get my Bronco frame rails about 58" off the ground in a 9'8" garage.
