I'm not married to a 18/20v platform so happy to jump brands. best deal right now looks like the ridgid gen5x impact at $160. the 3 speed ryobi kit that was $100 a couple of weeks ago was very tempting, my home depot ran out though. i do have a 18v lithium makita drill/impact set. will really only be using this to swap my summer/winter wheels and some basic car maintenance. car is later model year so no big repairs but brakes and suspension work will be needed in 2 yrs or so.

If you are happy with the Mikita, stay with that platform to simplify your life.

Multiple platforms quickly get out of hand., in my experience.

In the same boat and also have other Makita tools and way too many batteries.

I'm leaning towards the Ryobi so I can pair it up with the inflator and take it on four wheeling rides or on road trips. If Makita comes out with a mid torque I'll get that too and dedicate the Ryobi impact and inflator to our side by side. Less expensive if I ever have to do a hike out or leave it on the trail or whatever.

I've thought about going with a battery adapter so I can run the Ryobi tools on my Makita batteries but I don't think that will happen.

Or I might just go with Milwaukee as they have enough 18V tools that interest me to justify another battery platform.

Swapping winters and summers, little brake job

Sounds like a breaker bar would do ya just fine.

I have the Ryobi impact and love it. Of course I’ve been using Ryobi since day one basically so I may have some bias built in

For just tyres and some break work i would also recommend a good long breaker bar, spend the money you save over an impact on better quality parts for your car.

If your dead set on a cordless impact then i can recommend both Dewalt and Milwaukee. I use a large Dewalt professionally most days of the week and its held up fine going on 3 years now. Its not a mid-torque so might be a bit overkill. Im sure this is it here;

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dewalt-DCF899P2-18v-XR-Brushless-High-Torque-Impact-Wrench-2-x-5-0Ah-Charger/361529387133?_trkparms=aid%3D555019%26algo%3DPL.BANDIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20151005190540%26meid%3Dbcd95e1e876c4decb1397ff9bc87ccc5%26pid%3D100505%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26&_trksid=p2045573.c100505.m3226

I recently got a compact 1/2" Milwaukee fuel impact after seeing the comments on this site and its also very good, lighter and smaller than the Dewalt but not as powerful, i think there are 2 others above it power-wise.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Milwaukee-M18FIWF12-0-Fuel-Brushless-Impact-Driver-Bare-Unit-1-2-Sqaure-Drive/282714094466?epid=2255305201&hash=item41d312bb82:g:umIAAOSwmkpZ9y8I

Remember you'll need a kit for whatever you buy unless you have batteries and a charger already, i bough a Milwaukee 1/4" fuel impact driver kit for cheap on a good deal and the 1/2" compact as a bare tool. This gave me 2 tools, 2 batteries and one for their fast chargers for a very reasonable price.

Buy the smaller 1/2” brushless impact in makita. Done deal. Bare tool since you already have batteries or pick up a nice 5ah as it’s physically the same size as 3ah
