I would get the one you have the most-used sockets for. Also, I would recommend the 2655B if you are going that route, I have had a pin type Milwaukee and it was a royal pain. I have the 2655B and it's called a ball-pin but it's just the typical ball. I use lots of 1/2" as well as 3/8" so I ended up with both. And the high torque 1/2 as well.

Unless you just need the smaller head, I would get the M18 FUEL™ 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring Kit 2763-22. This is a fantastic tool and with 2 modes you have low torque for lighter jobs and 1100 ft-lbs on high mode that will handle anything you want to throw at it. Get the friction ring model whichever tool you decide on, the pin detente model is designed for guys that use the same socket all day, as it's harder to change sockets with that style.

Both are solid tools I have the High torque 1/2 impact with the friction ring and the 3/8 compact with friction ring also i highly recommend the 20 dollar tool boot as well. A while back i spent about 1500 on new fuel milwaukee tools and let me tell you and i think i use that 3/8 impact the most of any, and that 1/2 high-torque is freaking awesome!
I was installing guard rail on concrete floors with 7/8 sleeve-type anchors and that thing will **** an anchor right through that sleeve! as far as the anvil goes if i had it to do again i would go with the detent pin and a quick release locking swivel for the half inch impact and stick with the hog ring for the 3/8 the detent pin is a pain in the **** to use with non impact sockets which you will probably use alot of in 3/8!

I have the one with the pin and would not recommend it unless you work at a height. I use mine every single day and it is quite annoying, i wouldnt buy the pin model again

In that case get the 3/8's with the friction ring. I have the pin detente model and it's a pain changing sockets. I really wish I had gotten the friction model but I didn't know, at the time, how hard it is to change sockets with the pin model.

The Friction model had a slightly better set of specification than the pin style. I love my friction model.
