Which moisture meter do I want?

Hi all,

I've decided its time for a moisture meter. Usage will be general around the house type stuff--wood, concrete, etc. Nothing critical or earth shattering. More of a trend monitoring type thing.

I've searched and read the previous threads, but there weren't many conclusions drawn, especially recently.

Pin or pinless? I want whichever is more accurate. Not concerned about the marks the pins might leave on what this will be used on.

Budget is whatever it costs to get something accurate with repeatable measurements.

As always, thanks for your insights.

Pin type meters may not work on concrete (aside from surface moisture) but not sure if that matters for what you need it for. I have a Lignomat pinless meter and it has been great. Used mainly for flooring projects.

Good info on their site for both types of meters.

I had read that all the inexpensive pin type moisture meters are the same and purchased the HF mini moisture meter #67143 to use for firewood. It seems to give consistent relative measures and is OK for my needs. It was really cheap which might be right up your alley L.Cheapo - maybe $12 about a year ago. But I just tried to look it up and can't find it on their website? Maybe even too cheap for HF.....

I bought the Klein ET140 pinless based on many recommendations in the past year here. Has not arrived yet.
