Looks like 6d or siding nails in stainless or hot dipped, but which gun do you like? I'm looking at new and Facebook marketplace.

I love this nail-gun. I've had mine almost 10 years. I bought it used (and it was job-site used). I scored a tip to allow direct placement of the nail tip. That means you can sink nails into the little holes on simpson hangers. Shoots big full-headed framing nails. Your job will be cake.

I wonder though, like so many other tools, if I'll be blown away by newer features, lighter weight, etc. this thing is a tank..

Learn about what diameter nail is really a 6d, 8d, etc. I find many people misunderstand (starting with the fact that there are different diameters called 6d).

Bought this to reside my house 10 years ago, worked flawlessly and decided to keep it when I was done as its handy to have around when I want to put something together that doesn't need to come easily come apart down the road

Look into the battery powered Hitachi nailer. I have used Paslode pneumatics since the early 1980's and migrated to their gas powered units when they came out. They make great products. With the Hitachi battery unit, not buying gas cartridges or dragging a hose is a blessing!

The angled would be nice because the nails would fit my other frame nailer, the coil would be nice due to volume. I've had good luck with my bostitch finish nailers.

I have an old Max SuperSider pneumatic coil nailer - CN565 - that has never failed me…

I have a Chicago Pneumatic three angle adjustable framing nailer from Harbor Freight.

It is my only nail gun, not counting brad nailers. It does what I purchased it for.

I too, have the Bostitch Coil Nailer. It has been very good on my Hardi jobs.

Bostich N66. mine has been flawless so far and is pretty consistent with nail depth. Pretty rare to have a nail set to far or have to hammer one in a little.

All those using framing nailers, have you actually done hardie with one?????

Framing nailers are heavy, unwieldly, don't have fine depth settings and don't have full head, thin shanked, hot dipped ring shank nails required. I have only seen them available as wire coils.

If the nails are to big in diameter, they blow out the hardie. If the heads are clipped or the nails over driven, then James Hardie will not warrantee. If not hot dipped you will have corrosion issues.

Bostitch N66.
I had the earlier version for at least 20yrs. Just replaced it w/N66 this past year; I couldn’t find a couple of parts (discontinued) that were needed for the old one.

Maze coil nails for Hardi, heavy galvanized wire collated recommended by Hardi, or used to be.

Knowledge Builder -

Just FYI - I have found a guy on eBay who makes and sells some of the Bostich parts that are no longer made. I was able to get the urethane bumper I needed for an old coil nailer. I prefer my Hitatchi, so I haven't looked at it for a while but it may be a 66.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for both the Hitachi and Bostitch on marketplace. If no luck by the time siding is delivered, I'll pick up whichever is available.

FYI, I went with the Metabo (Hitachi) siding nailer, and have been happy with it.
The only issue I've had is it not wanting to shoot through the hardie batten strips that have been laying out for a few weeks. Has anyone else had issues with this stuff "curing/hardening"?

No ****, 1 week after I last posted I need to nail bevel edged wood siding and the trigger valve failed on my 20 year-old Bostitch F 21PL. I wanted to nail some siding that day so I bought a Metabo siding nailer. While the small 113 nails in a framing nail are OK, the tiny headed nails you can shoot from the Metabo make the job look so much nicer. (In general we don't put much siding u here in Southern CA.) So Firebrick 43 was right!

Will this one work? I already own it. If so, any recommendations on which nails to use for the Hardie Siding?

With Hardie products the nail heads can’t be set below (or into) the material. Only put the bottom of the head as low as the outside of the board/panel.
Also, i think the spiral siding nails are recommended.
I am not a pro at this work though.

It will work, I use a similar Paslode. You will have to tweak pressure and depth adjustment. It does not matter what type of gun you use, with cementatious siding YOU WILL get bad shots. Some will go too deep and some will need to be set with a hammer. It has more to do with the material underneath, knots, soft spots etc.
