Since i found out over the weekend that ArmorGarage and ArmorClad are the same company (Armorgarage is a distributor for ArmorClad) it has narrowed my list down to 2 company's. (see also Best Floor Covering Thread). So i need your guys opinions. Which one do you feel is Better for everything from Welding with tig to BBQ and entertaining.

ArmorClad Epoxy Coating

Woverine Epoxy Coating

Neither. Welding will create pock marks that will be unsightly.

I cant see any floor coating holding up to welding and stay looking nice. Its got to be stronger than steel to hold up to molten steel being dropped on it. Get a big welding blanket or use a steel welding table.

Donhd04, where did you find out that ArmorGarage is a resaler of ArmorClad? I am getting ready to pull the trigger on an epoxy flooring from the same companies that you have listed and i want to make the best decision. Thanks for starting these posts!

I'll admit it - I voted for Wolverine!

If the welding is about 3 feet from the floor the slag isn't usually an issue. If a larger piece hits it can leave a spot. Some shops use flakes in the welding area, it does mask inadvertent burn marks.

BTW Most all coating products are rebadged or private labeled, in fact Wolverine does a lot of private label work for other vendors (but not of some of their coatings - like BondTite). Labs, research, and manufacturing costs add up quickly, easier to just slap a label on someone else's cans.

first I have never seen a Tig Welder if drop slag unless you blow all the way thru and are trying to melt something. But thanks for the welding blanket idea.

I called both on Friday of last week (armorgarage first) then called armorclad. The sales guys from armorclad told me quite a few things. first that AG is a distributer for there product and if I would go back to the website and look at the contact info and videos both would be the same. then i asked about the 23ml thick industrial from AG and he said that thats impossible since there is no way to gauge it after it dries without drilling. which does make sense. and if its a DIY project how are you going to distinguish the difference between concrete and epoxy even if you do drill. So price difference is whats counting next since the AG military 23ml thick is 954$ for 600sqft and AC is 650$ for 600sqft and supposedly there is no difference. I haven't called Wolverine yet either so I'll post what they say when i call today also.

Thanks for the update! Definitely helps in the decision making. I will keep checking in here and as soon as I get some funds in the next month or so, I will start a thread on my garage update...I can't just stalk the site, I should also contribute ;)
