We've been using good quality Kelly-Moore house paint for a while with very good results and coverage.

I only use Benjamin Moore. Costs a little more but it goes on easy, looks and cleans great. Good stuff.

I think I would use a Satin finish. IMHO, semi-gloss would be too shinny on a wall, just too big of an area.

Depends on what room it is in. Typically semi gloss in bathrooms and kitchens, easier to clean the walls; flat finish in other rooms as it shows wall defects less noticeably
I use semi-gloss everywhere on the walls, satin white on the ceilings, cleans up great after the kids do their thing to it. Not for everyone though, and it shows every imperfection in the taping job.
I've had good luck with Behr..... yes, Benjamin Moore and the other high-end paints are "better" but I'm not sure they are "double the price better". I use Flood Floetrol to thin and extend dry times whether I am brushing or rolling.

If we're talking garage... I have two garages. One done in satin off white and one in semi-gloss off white and I like the semi-gloss better. Reflects light better and wipes clean easier.

I used semi-gloss in my previous garage. It repels dust and dirt and best and can be cleaned much easier than flat paint. It's a bit shiny initially but the shine decreases noticeably with time. I'm going to use semi-gloss again.
Brand? Doesn't matter too much as every manufacturer has good/better/best lines. The best quality/price ratio I've found is to buy the second from the top line they have. The top is usually zero VOC's and other nonsense things when it comes to painting a garage. Don't cheap out on paint!!! For the amount of labour to paint, it's foolish to use cheap paint and have to do it again all too soon.
If the drywall is new and clean you can use a cheaper drywall "primer-sealer." If stained up/old you need a stain blocking primer which is more expensive.
Do one good coat of primer, then two top coats of semi-gloss. It'll last for years.

And, if semi is too much but satin ain't enough, combine the 2 for a happy medium.
Guess I didn't specify....it's for in the garage.
Didn't consider Satin. Was thinking semi-gloss for the easy cleanup but was a bit concerned about excessive glare. But then again, as time goes by I'm guessing less and less of the walls will be visible!

To the op, should you choose to use Benjamin Moore you can purchase their Super Spec product line they also offer a super spec primer. I would recommend a good primer coat and two coats of paint. It is my personal preference when priming new drywall to apply two coats of primer and two coats of paint, some may think it is overkill. Trust me you can see the difference in the finished product especially when applying a color other than white.

I did flat on the ceiling because my roller marks with satin was too much for me to handle. The walls in semi-gloss are separated in half with a horizontal stripe so keeping a wet edge as I went around doing the top half then the bottom half.

I'm planning high gloss white on my ceiling to reflect light down then a semi-gloss on the walls so I can wipe them down easy.
Benjamin Moore only for this guy. . .

I found the high-end Benjamin Moore covers in one coat better than the Behr did with two. It's thick like a good milkshake and doesn't have runs and drips as easily. Although I still use a roller. If you're spraying that isn't necessarily a plus.
And I say semi-gloss in a garage. I like having it bright and easy to clean and don't care about the imperfections.
