I've read that the pin type is more secure and there have been failures in the ratchet type jack stands.
Vehicles that I plan to use it on include Suburban, Land Rover Defender and Range Rover.
I've narrowed it down to likely these 3 models mostly due to brand reliability but please make other suggestions for other models I may have overlooked.

In terms of the Milwaukee vs ESCO, does the design of the ESCO (tripod) seem more robust? Why should I consider the saddle type top vs the flat top?
I also have a Porsche 911 have have a 2 pairs of the Jackpoint jack stands along with ramps that are great. The Jackpoiint tops actually attach to the cars usual jack points and provide great stability and confidence that the car is securely raised.
