It's funny how how people see their preference as a good or bad feature. I really like that Snap-on pliers are big enough for my hands. It's really irritating when you get small, narrow pliers that are hard to hold onto and use because the handles are spaced too close! When I've bought new Klein, the joint is stiff like Snap-on. But, 10 years later, they're still good. Not sloppy like a lot of other ones.
Speaking of Klein. I do have one 8" pair (d203-8 i think) and that handle is about right for me. Slightly smaller than a similar Snap-On, but it tapers a bit more at the end and closer to the joint, which makes it a bit more comfortable and controllable for me. But you are right about it being a preference. I just gave both a the Kleins and a Snap-on to someone with larger hands and thicker fingers than me and they preferred the Snap-On.
For whatever reason, the Klein was smooth from the get go. Typically if i want Snap-On needlenose to be that smooth right away I end up degreasing the joint and working it a back and forth to get the rough spots out.Too bad it doesn't have aggressive checkering like Talon Grip. That would probably be my favorite needle nose then.
