So, my EDC knife is a "utility blade holder" and i've tried quite a few different blades in it over the years, just wondering what your guys' opinion is on blades.
i think my favorite is the Lennox ones with the TiN coated edge.

I use Stanley, but only because there's a 100 count box on the shop foreman's work bench, provided by the shop. I've always considered them a commodity grade item, and never given any thought to the idea one might be better than another.

Just spent time today looking at the Gerber EAB knifes and reading what other folks have to say about them.

The one thing I learned so far is that the blades are certainly not the same between manufacturers.

I measured some Stanley blades and they are .020 thick while some "industrial blades" I purchased in bulk measure at .030 ....... the thickness will make a big difference on how the blades fit into your knife.

I read that the Gerber blade that comes with the knife is about .040 thick.

That is a lot of disparity and you'll have to search out blades that work best in your blade holder.

I've always found the Irwin Blue blades to hold up best. The cost over generics is easily negated by the how much longer they last.

thats the exact knife i carry and have for 6 yrs, never had a prob. with blade thickness. has had stanley, lenox, irwin,no name, kobalt and bostich blades in it that i can recall. the original eab is smaller and feels better to me than the "light" one with the slits and funny shape. i could feel that one in my pocket.:headscrat

i picked up some of the lenox gold blades also the other day at HD my shop has packages of stanly blades on the free stock carts but the are always out. also the Stanly blades dont seem to hold up to much abuse and dull quickly. maybe im being to snobby about a utility blade but it seems like they should last longer.

Irwin Bi-Metal, have had the same box in my toolbox forever. Usually lose them or break them before I wear one out.

A good one???? The one that will cut the head of a dinkis off with one pass. LOL

I am not a fan of Stanley but I keep finding boxes of them at yard sales and the swap meets for under $5 per box of 100. I will give the others a go. I hate blades that dull after a couple of uses.
