which red for toolboxes?

Hi guys. my garage build is coming along and i'm picking up a few 4 draw and 10 draw filing cabinets for storage.
I want to paint them all the same red that is reasoably close to the red of my waterloo toolbox....

Any suggestions of an easy to apply red enamel spray???

Maybe rustoleum safety red or vht red????

any ideas?

I have a mid 1980's Craftsman stack that was made by Waterloo. I used Rustoleum Regal Red when I repainted this Craftsman workbench to somewhat match.

I spray painted the workbench. I painted these cabinets with the same color from a quart can. I thinned the paint with mineral spirits at about 60/40 and rolled on several thin coats with a small foam roller. The thinning helped the paint level and flash dry quicker.

Yes, hahahaha! Since I had it all apart for cleaning and painting I decided to swap the drawers and door around. The drawers and door were repainted also with satin black. The new stainless top was a refrigerator door in it's former life. Help's keep items in the bench chilled.

I might add you can add Penetrol to the paint and it levels really nicely.

I have used Rustoleum sunrise red on my restorations and is very close.

Ayuh,..... I find the Rustoleum safety Red is a near enough match to the standard toolbox red,.....

Granted, these are kitchen steel cabinets, but I've done toolboxes the same way,....

What is Penetrol, never heard of it.

Paint additive, helps adhesion and leveling. Penetrol for oil, Floetrol for latex.

I used Rustoleum sunrise red. It's pretty close. Regal red was too dark to match my boxes.

Krylon 'Banner Red' rattle can matches the HF boxes pretty well.

If you have a Tractor Supply or Farm and Fleet near you, some of the tractor reds are a very close match to toolbox colors.
