OK, so I want another tool box, my snap-ons are getting full and more cluttered than I like and since I free'd up some garage space I think a rolling work center type box would be perfect...

Here are the boxes I have narrowed it down to, money is not an object, but I will use it to gauge what I will get, in other words I want the most for what I spend...

First from my "go to" company the snap-on mobile WS..
https://store.snapon.com/KRSC101-Se...-Heavy-Duty-3-Drawers-Royal-Blue-P648565.aspx
or
https://store.snapon.com/KRSC46-Series-Roll-Carts-Roll-Cart-Large-6-Drawers-Royal-Blue-P747220.aspx

Next what I think is the best deal Cornwells mobile ws...
http://www.cornwelltools.com/webcat/products.php?product=CTBMM800BK-%2d-Mobile-Work-Center,-Black#

And last one I looked at is the matco
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/p...RVICE-CART-SAPPHIRE-BLUE-PAINT-W-CHROME-TRIM/

I am leaning towards the cornwell, I have seen all 4 in person and the cornwell seems to be the most box, even though its the most expensive {and c-well doesn't move much on box prices, from list, where I can get the Snap-on 6 drawer for $1500 ish the cornwell is what it is with my guy}...

I like the flip up tops not the sliding tops, I want a nice big bottom drawer, I would like over 20K cubic inches, and something well made, I do prefer truck brand boxes.

I would normally just buy the snap-on, if I could mix the 2 boxes and have a ss work top on the 6 drawer unit I would buy it, I even considered buying a piece of ss and attaching it to the box, but I just want to buy it and fill it, not into fabbing it myself.. He offered me a couple spare rubber mats, but I will scratch the **** out of that box in a week...

I want a work center, soft corner guards, flip up top, easy to roll with a nice big high mounted handle, etc. Did I miss one, where else should I look, or should I just pull the trigger on the cornwell?

My nephew has the Cornwell. I wouldn't call it a cart. Its huge. And has really deep drawers. The drawer pull is the best ive ever used. He uses it daily as his primary box as a dealership tech. It has tons of room and is very nice. I would go with the Cornwell all day.

I'd get a Mac split tool. It has the most useable top area. Ive managed to fit all of my day to day sockets, metric wrenches, screw drivers prybars and ratchets in just the top area and trays on the lid sides. Plus you still have the work area on each side when its open.

The size is what I like about this box, I like how tall the cornwells boxes are to work on the top of, I am 6'5"s tall and hate bending over a low work center... How long has your nephew had the box, how is it holding up?

I looked at the mac, I am not sold on the split top design, its also a bit smaller than I would like. I can picture putting a leaking pump on the top of the box and the oil draining in between the split top and making a mess.. The mac is nice and very expandable, but also once you add all the toys and add ons, you could buy a 50" box, lol...

having the work area and the top is nice, but the negatives that come with it out weigh the benefit for me...

I think I am going to go with the cornwell, he said he could deliver it tomorrow morning before his route.

Thanks guys...

Ha congrats on the new box...I traded my old Mac box for a KRSC 46 last year. Did you get the 700 or 800 series? I'm in southeast Ga and there are no dealers south of ATL. I've seen em in there catalog...would you consider posting a few pics...I like the blue color they use. I surely hope you enjoy it :)

Thanks, I like the blue, I always go with black boxes this is the first non black I ever bought. Its the 800 series, I will take some pics tomorrow, not done loading it up yet...

I have to say this box is well built, its big and the drawer sizes are perfect... I am still deciding on how to set it up, I use an la400 for most of my sockets, I am going to keep wrenches in this one, some air tools, some sockets, and most of the stuff I use the most.

Ill gt some pics up tomorrow..

I have to admit I looked at the 700 & 800 in the catalog after posting in the thread...the 800 is bigger than my 46 and the 700 is a bit smaller...(narrower). I really modified mine though my dealer...all 2" and 4" drawers and also the 8" casters that come on the KRSC 100 carts...wow what a difference...I hope you'll get your cart worked out the way you want.

I was hoping to make it to the bottom of the thread to find that you were still looking for a cart. Your first post describes the Snap-on KRSC246 perfectly. Stainless steel top, 24 inches deep, corner bumpers, deep bottom drawer. Sorry i was too late!

The big Cornwell cart is a favorite here in the shop.

I'm going to get a KRSC46 with my student discount, but if I didn't have the discount I'd get the Cornwell cart without hesitation. Of course I wouldn't be using the lid as a worksurface, if I needed a mobile worksurface I'd look at one of the heavy duty Snap On carts made for that. We have big mobile tables for teardown and such of components.

OK so here is some pics of the drawers I have done so far, its taken me a while because as I do this I am organizing my other two boxes... I love this box, it fits a ton of stuff, its SUEPR easy to move around, I think this has a lot to do with the rounded wheels, more like a bicycle vs a car tire, less of the wheel touching the ground.. Also the liners are AWESOME...

I did 3 of the wrench drawers so far and a bit of the top bay...
I have some wrench holders a couple different kinds, and I tried them out, I like them just laid in there better, believe it or not I can fit more because I can bend them around the matco and snap-on sets..
I have 1 drawer of sae, one of mm, and one of gear wrenches...
Next I will do screw drivers, then air tools, then pliers, and one for vise grips, the bottom is nice and will fit a lot of my welding gear...

Thanks, I seen this box, I didn't like the drawer configuration of it, I think the cornwell has design over this snappy box, I like the 3" drawers, you can put about anything in them even my 3/8 impact, and I dont see the sense of the 6" drawers, thats one complaint about my snappy boxes, sometimes when setting them up I scratch my head as to what they were thinking, I like the 9" deep drawer, i can fit a welding mask in it... The last nail in snappys coffin was the height of the handle, I had to bend down to move it around, as my dealer said "you can move the handle", well I can also weld my self a complete box the way I want it, lol..

You chose well. I purchased one of these last Fall and prefer it over my similar Snap-on unit. By the way, I have a the PINK breast cancer awareness model and it's a beauty

Thanks, I never seen a pink one, do you have any pics of it?

I was in the garage for about an hour doing a bit more organizing this morning, got the screwdriver/pick/punch draw done, next is air tools...

I need to buy more tools now, lol. This box holds a TON of stuff {literally}, My old boxes were getting really crowded, and I have been making lists of other tools I want to pick up, but haven't wanted to since I was running out of space, this really opens things up and lets me start chopping away at my list..

More Pliers
Longer extensions {24, 36, etc, I have been stacking them to get reach}
Adapter extensions {some longer 1/2 x 3/8 impact style}
wobble impact extensions {seems sunex is one of the only ones available}
more pry bars and longer screw drivers
a couple more ratchets I have my eye on {orange handle snappys}
and a few more hammers {deadblows mini sledge and new softs}

SO I have a lot of shopping to do :willy_nil
