Hi,
I am from India and I own a garage where I mostly restore vintage and classic cars, but recently there is a steady stream of new generation cars like Mercedes-Benz, bmw and Asian cars like Mahendra, Tata, Suzuki, Hyundai etc . As diagnosing fault codes and deleting fault codes is impossible without a scan tool I am thinking of buying a scan tool but I cannot decide on which scan tool is best suited for my garage. There is a good market presence of launch and gscan in India. Could anyone advise me on which scan tool to go for.

Many people seem happy with the Launch. The thing to realize is that no aftermarket scan tool is going to do everything. Eventually you will end up with 2-3. Start with the Launch if they are easy to get then get an Autel when you run into something it won't do.

The autel maxisys mini I think is the best bang for buck out there right now.

That depends.
Are you looking to buy new or used?

New, Hands down the Autel maxisys is the best scanner on the market for its price.

Used is a totally different story. The best bang for the buck on the used market right now is the OTC Genisys. It was also sold as the Matco Determinator, Mac Mentor, and Cornwell Taskforce.

Here is a video that covers its functions pretty well:

And part 2.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, let me know.

Definitely would like to buy a new tool as you never know how refurbished scan tools perform. I have seen bad reviews about autel by astral auto repairs on youtube, I do not know if they have service support here in India. Has anyone tried the Gscan 2 the product looks good and sturdy. Would like to hear your comments about Gsan2.
