The height of walls is near 10 feet. Smart panels are 4 X 8. Is there a rule to install panels on the lenght or it doesn't matter?

Thank you

Not for nothing, I'm just a guy who works in an office, YMMV, no warranties expressed or implied, etc., but your wall will be a little stronger if you orient the long axis of your building materials perpendicular to one another. Since your studs are vertical, you'd want to hang your panels horizontally, I think. Probably the other way around (vertical) if you were building a barn and hanging the panels off horizontal planks/purlins/nailers.

I also don't know what this Smart panel is. Is it grooved like T1-11, or is it more like a 6" board type siding? If it's a board type, it probably wouldn't be a LOT stronger structurally if you stacked it horizontally. There's so many slip planes involved, it's like pushing sideways on a stacked deck of cards. More info would be good I guess.

The 2' x 3' Smart Panels in my house were installed one above the other, short sides up. Check your local building code, but in my area Smart Panels are classifed as low voltage hubs. But because my panels were each wired with household power outlets (for wireless modems, security system, etc) all I had to do was them away from water sources and make sure the outlets were up to code.

You can run all your household low voltage wiring (cable, satellite, security, speakers, internet, network cabling, etc) into these panels. This way, you can make changes to what rooms get what services without having to rip open walls to access wiring or run new wiring. A little extra expense but worth it, imho.

Haha- ignore my rambling if a smart panel isn't a building material. Sounds like it might be a fusebox-like thing?

Exactly my point, carguy123, I don't think he's looking to install a low voltage hub as the smart panels he has in mind are 4'x8'. A bit large if you ask. :)

waiting for Fredartic's response...

I used smart panels on my shop single sheeted (no OSB sheeting beneath). My shop has 14' walls so I went with 4'x9' sheets (less waste). In answer to the question, you run them vertically, just like T1-11. Eventually I will be posting pix of my shop...after I get through reading all these.
