For sale locally for $1200. He said he bought it new 12 years ago and he thought it was a classic 76, but I can’t find any info on that box. It doesn’t have a full length top drawer and it has individual locks on each drawer.

Thanks,

Marc

I believe something like a kra5311. 53x19 heritage box. Might be the slightly cheapen versionwith lighter casters.

Look on the back there should either be a sicker or stamping.

Something just doesn't look right about that box, I've seen one very similar looking that was a craftsman.

At $1200 i wouldn’t bother. Thats a sub $1000. Box used. For a few hundred more you can find a krl722.

At least around here. They list for more but usually sell for a lot less. My buddy picked up a KRL 722 in mint condition for 1500, I picked up a 7022 in fair condition for 2000

It looks similar to a Snap-On or sometimes Blue-Point branded KRB2011 but yeah weird part number and I would say not worth $1200, I feel like $600-800 range

That's an odd box I dont think its 24" deep looks like a heritage box. Thats a industrial box number though.

Thanks for the help. For a little more I found a Macsimizer, KRL1022, and a Matco 5s. They are the same price and I like the drawer layout of all of them. Which is the better box?

Not having any experience with those brands, the gray one looks to be in better condition but the red one looks like it’s bigger and will hold more tools and you can grow into it.

For me the 1022 is the way to go. Plenty of space, the problem you will run into is that it is a little tall and if you happen to need in a drawer liner you have to order the special snap on ones. I have yet to find a replacement drawer liner that fits a 29 inch deep box.

krl1022 never a bad choice and the snapon brand holds good value .
it needs a worktop and check drawer liners as that along with actual all round condition will reflect real world price .
another plus with the krl and red would be easier chance of used expansion of side drawers or locker .
Matco are proper decent boxes and may be worth a look if like look and layout of box and being newer looking liners and top maybe present/usable .
Matco not so desirable so pricing can be better. I had good used deals on all my matco boxes .
drawer layout important so think that through. maybe worth viewing all or at least 2 if locations/route makes it possible .
Is a lot of used boxes available once make effort look and willing travel 2-3 hours, and for savings over new it like thousand bucks an hour minimum ....

That Matco is an interesting box. You could use that thin drawer to hold all of your wrenches.

Looks to be in good condition too, must have kept it under a bench.

The snap on 1022. All 3 are good boxes. The snap on will hold the best value for the longest and part warranty isn't too bad with them. I think it comes down to drawer lay out. Do you like deep drawers or thin? Long drawers or mid or short.

One consideration may be spare part availability. Snap on may be expensive for the non-original owner, but they are at least available. I have no first hand knowledge on Mac or matco, but I see at lot of posts on GJ of folks looking for unavailable parts.

Be sure to measure the depth of those thin Matco drawers. I had a Snap-on with drawerw so shallow I couldn't store wrenches in them. For me, anything less than 2" deep is almost worthless.

^ i'd be other way, matco got too many over deep drawers for hand tools .
1.5 to 3" covers hand tools well, couple deeper for power tools and boxed kit.
I not into stacking **** in drawers as too much faffing about, i like everything close to single layer or at least easily seen and removed .
drawer layout really is a personal thing, no wrong or right within reason !
Is very importantto evaluate this and know it going suite your needs/preferences though .
