So looking for some opinions on these 2 Snap On boxes. Each seller is asking $2000 I don't think either of them would take $1500 so lets say they would take $1750. The Blue KRL761BPCM is used but not abused and comes with a SS top. Picture below not of the actual box. The red one is like new been used very little. I think it is model kra2422. The picture below is of the actual box. I would be using these in my home garage. I have lots of tools since I like older muscle cars and work on my daily drivers so lots of SAE and Metric.

I would take the 761, but I'm the only man in the world who doesn't care for the doulbe top drawers. The boxes are built basically the same, but the 761 has better casters and slides.

Yeh I have noticed people mentioning they like boxes with the 2 large draws better. Better slides is a big deal since I will be loading either box up.

Had some pics of the 761 but they were not clear. He said it is in very nice condition. But thats his opinion so you never know. SS top seems like an ok feature.

krl761 for sure if it's in decently good condition. KRL's are nicer in many ways.

I had a krl761b. It was a nice box but the drawer layout wasn't for me. I sold it and bought the tech 1000 cuz my deal for the other box fell through and I needed somthing fast. Its build very well, in my opinion. Iv never used a kra series box so I can't say anything aboutt that one. But if I had my choice bewteen the two its be the krl.

Full width drawers are nice, i love them in my KRL 7022 but there not much use when the load capacity and slides are not up to the task of holding what you need.

Id get the KRL

I am going to look at the KRL after work today. What do you guys think is a fair price for the box if it is in good condition? I am thinking $1500, but always push for the best deal I can get. When talking to the guy I get a feeling he is at $1750-$1800.

The KRL is going to be the popular choice. It includes SS top? If box and top are in good shape I would think its worth $2k easy. That box with a SS top in my area would be a steal for $1500 and a great buy at $1700.

It does include the SS top. I am not in a rush but have been looking for a while. I figure this is a good time of year to be looking for deals.

So I went and looked at the KRL. It was in good shape. Had a couple of dents, some scratches but not to dirty, and one of the chrome corner pieces had a small crease in it. There was piece of wood under the SS top. Top was in good shape otherwise. Does anyone know if this is normal. It did not look bent or dented but seem to sit up on the edges. The draws opened smoothly but it took a little pressure to open them. Not sure if they were loaded if they would have opened easier. Bearing seemed smooth maybe they just needed a cleaning and to be lubed. As I though the guy was saying his bottom line was $1800. I told him we were to far apart and I didn't even say a figure. I told him I didn't want to insult him but I was thinking $1300. In the end he offered me the box for $1600 and i told him i would be in touch. I needed to get a trailer anyway, although I could have left a deposit. At this point I am sure if I call and offer $1500 he would take it. He said one of the keys was broken so he had a new latch not installed with keys. No draw liners. Not sure if it is a great deal.

The top is wood wrapped in stanless so what you say is probably normal. The box is could easilly be 10 years so the wear you mention sounds fine for the age. I wouldn't worry about the slides too much, they are warntied pretty easy.

The KRL was more $ new than the other and is a much better box. Heavier duty and more capacity. You will find that more Sq inches of drawer space is the best thing.. a few deep drawers does not really add up to much as you would think. I have a KRL but a bit bigger and its a great box. The stainless top keeps from nicking the front edge of the box all up.. Great thing to have!

KRL is top of the line, the KRA is not built the same and i believe they were made in canada from global parts. If you go to look at both you will see the difference and feel it when you open the drawers, KRL is built like a tank to last 2 lifetimes.

And btw, that is a great deal at 1600. It was close to 10k new. I live near RI and personally i think you should jump on that because at that price it will not last and also i wouldnt be suprised if someone offered him more for it.

Well I called the guy back over the weekend and left him a message. I have not heard back from him. So it is probably sold but maybe he will call.

Go with a trailer and $1,600 in your pocket.

Folks here have to remember that there's still a troubled economy here and with almost everything, it's a buyers market.

Offer him $1,300 when you get there. When he sees 13 Ben Franklins on top of the box he might cave in at less than the $1,500 you think he'll take. The fact that it hasn't already sold tells him that he needs to take less.

Also, when I get in a deal like this, I almost always use my 10% rule. On larger purchases, like this box, if I get within 10% of what I'm willing to pay I'll normally "step-up" and close the deal.

How about go get the box for 1600, skip dinner with the wife on Saturday to make up for the extra $100, and have a happy meal in the garage with the box?
