since you have the socket hex style which are my favorite ones I'd but just a simple set of L shaped hex not in a ring or all in one tool so you can use them in tight spots. i like my T handles ones for the bolts i have great access to, but they don't fit in tight spots.

good luck

Hi,

I have the Wiha L-style ones and the hard handled Wiha ones (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ID8PY6/?tag=atomicindus08-20) I would not by the ones with the ball end again. For me the ball end is most of the time useless if I use a T because i rather fu*k the faster than get any advantage from it. I recommend the hard handled Wiha ones or the Bondhus bit I never tried them. The Wiha ones with the hard handle are pretty good to clean and you can get tehm with the same stand which works pretty good on the bench.

There was a thread the other day on these, but I have Bondhus in SAE and MM and they are great.

Thanks for the input. I have never used the ball end style and always wondered about damaging the fastener head with something designed to rotate for better access. The bondhus look like a quality product to me.

I have usa made craftsmans. honestly , don't use them all that often as I have multiple styles and lengths in socket form and would just as soon put one on a ratchet handle or on a cordless. I tend to use the t-handle type when dealing with set screws.

I purchased the Bondhus set you linked to about a month ago. They are very well designed and fit tight. I am glad I made that choice. I think that either set are high quality and would do an equal job. Just my opinion of course.

the bondhus are quite good. i've got both squared off ('normal') and ball head. the ball head is useful when the only access is at an angle, although if you can get an L-key on it, you're better off. the ball heads WILL round out a fastener if you're not careful or if the fastener is particularly tight (or possibly even moderately tight - AMHIK). that said, they've saved my bacon more than once.

one alternative you might prefer is using the allen sockets (again, both square and ball end are available) on a short swivel ratchet (pivoting vertical makes it just as fast as spinning a T-handle, and without the clearance issue of the T-handle) or getting a wright 3430 http://www.toolup.com/wright-tool_3...scplp1067297&gclid=CLGV55Gu4sECFYQ-aQodNrUA-w (3/8 drive but 4 3/4" length) and dedicating it and a 6" or 4" extension to your allen and torx sockets.

while i occasionally do use the t-handles, i've found i much prefer the wright 3430. because the ratchet mechanism is really for 1/4 drive, you can't really honk on it without breaking it...but when i did it, wright sent me a kit with just a phone call and was nothing but a pleasure to deal with. damn impossibly hidden starter bolts on KA24...

I have the Wiha soft grips and the Wiha L keys in their nice ergo star holder.

Clean out your socket heads first and that will avoid some issues with the ball heads. I try to never use the ball end to break things loose though.

I use hex bit sockets most often but sometimes that T handle is a need. Mine are Bondhus. My long bits are also Bondhus. My short bits are a mix of everything, none of them fancy. I still keep a set of L keys and they are still useful from time to time.

I really think you need some of all the above.

This past week I received my Bondhus metric T-handles and love them. The T-handle is solid steel and gives a nice "flywheel effect" when removing fasteners.
You have to love the Bondhus Warranty policy as well.

I've had Bondhus is both metric and SAE for over a decade, use them everyday and have never had an issue with them. I bought the ball-end and haven't had any issues. I have used good and bad ball-end, so I know the difference in what will and won't strip a fastener. I also have the Cman set from many years ago (gifted) and a set of the HF long sockets and the Bondhus fits better and actually will access from a significantly steeper angle than the other ball-ends I've used. The HF's are actually the worst I ever used (not surprisingly) as they strip fasteners in very short order. I've been considering selling mine to buy the sets with the pro-hold thing on the end, but reviews I read here and other places said the pro-hold will wear out. I know Bondhus will warranty it, but 10+ years with mine and zero issues soooo...

Hope that helps, I wouldn't trade mine for any others.

Edit: forgot to say, in the small sizes there is no ball-end because they'd break. They also shorten the T handle on the small sizes so you can't apply enough torque to break them.

Have not tried the wiha but can tell you the Bondhus are way better than the craftsman. For that price get the bondhus.
