I agree this is what I plan to do. I'm stuck between a Extreme PWSRC4129TX or a RX722519RC. Either way I only plan on having it for a few years then I would like to trade up to a KRL7023 hopefully.
Go with the RX 72" 19 drawer cabinet as way better versitile storage platform and cheaper. Can be extended with side cabinet and the long drawers great for long tools or just neat wrench and socket layout plus worktop area for tools and parts in use is super useful and makes work times quicker and environment more organised, that box could see you through a decade plus if cared for a bit plus retains value if don't rough it up , spend money on good hand tools first in your career youth as that what makes your work easier/profitable, rushing truck brand boxes is a financial killer and pointless unless you got cash to burn or get good used deal.
The extreme box is good compromise in quality to cost and makes a smart first buy which likely impress yourself and colleagues as they be happier with a guy who funding good hand tool growth in sensible storage cabinet over a guy struggling buy hand tools needed as in crazy debt over a bling brand box ...
Don't overlook the masterforce 72" as same factory production as strictly toolboxes range and comes on offer at around 1,295 (just missed current offer) and cracking box at that money.
If really planing on short term/low outlay then Harbor Freight 72" when at $999 sale and coupon combined price is a complete bargain if not stuck up over badge branding, have a friend using one (few years now) with diy ply lined top and it nice solution and surprised me in it's loaded rigidity but plastic drawer latch switch on right side of drawers gets annoying in daily work environment, double slides done well and drawers seem rigid. Extreme is indeed better plus has better parts backup but ideally needs intention keep with it for good few years or keeping it as a home box/bench if upgrading as they can last you many many years in construction and box expansion terms .

Sounds like a plan, but do not expect to get much on resale for those Extreme boxes.

I really don't plan on it having hardly any resale. I could keep it as a home box but the acreage I'm renting and plan on buying a couple years out of school (hopefully) already comes with a 44" snap on top and bottom box in the machine shed. If my home collection ever grows out of it or I get a bigger shop built than at some point I would consider it.

An in regards to Homak being junk. I don't find that to be true, I think they are the same quality if not a little better than a Mac select or one of Macs split top roll carts. So many kids in my class have had trouble with those damn things.
