I have two of the craftsman professional cabinets and I really like them. I have not seen the homak cabinets in person, but I really like the price.

Any particular reason you aren't considering the Gladiator cabinets? Either the RTA or the Welded?

These aren't very deep, what are you storing in these that a shallow depth will suffice?

Well I was gonna fill it up with tools. I'm kind of second guessing myself now because of the depth thing...12" doesn't seem very deep.

I have Craftsman floor standing and wall mounted cabinets. They work fine though I do think they are kind of flimsy.... I don't expect to ever have any problems with them because I take very good care of my stuff and don't stress it much. That being said, doing it over again I wouldn't buy them.... The Gladiator stuff is much stronger in my opinion, or the other option is buy kitchen cabinets for the garage. You can find used kitchen cabinets on craigslist for really cheap, I've seen people list the whole kitchen for $100 you come and take it out and load it up yourself. If they are an older home they will be made out of some nice strong hardwood too most likely.... Just another option

The sevilles at sams are a good buy being considerably cheaper at normal price than any other options from the common brands.

A friend bought a few sevilles and installed them, they were nice enough. They are a little better built than the gladiator rta series. The gladiator welded series though are much tougher and not comparable to the seville or rta.

12" depth is typical for most upper cabinet installations, and kitchen cabinets would be the same depth. Not sure why guys are complaining about the 12" depth for an upper?

In general pretty much all brands of low-end/mid-grade garage cabinets are way overpriced for the material and build quality. If you need one or two it may not be a big deal to pay a $100-$200 for a single cabinet, but if your planning a large install and need 10+ cabinets then they are a rip-off at msrp, and your best to wait from some sale or clearance special.

I suppose 11.81" isn't shallow at all, for some reason I thought my upper cabinets were 16"-18" deep, brain fart.

Another option if you like the look of metal, these sort of have that look, they're not metal, but they are pretty durable, and the price is decent, and I believe free shipping. They also come in a white metallic which I plan on buying for my garage. What are the dimensions of where they're being hung, that might narrow the choice down.

They supposedly hold up to 400lbs. (if you mount them right of course)

fiberboard is out of the question. They look nice though. My barn isn't climate controlled is the thing and moisture gets to them. The last one I hung didn't take long for it to saturate, give way and fall. It was a regular kitchen cabinet.

Ah ok. Steel it is then, they'll just rust over time, at least they won't fall apart.

You can fix the rust/paint on metal if need be. But once MDF gets moist and swells then it's game over.

Agreed.

I was just in Sears looking at boxes and I looked at those steel cabinets with the rounded front doors. The door itself is like 4" deep and the radius on those corners is HUGE, I would say easily a 5" radius, so the depth of the door really takes away 4" of storage space, so they're almost like a 7-8"" depth cabinet.
