I'm looking for a 110 volt mig welder,I have a Miller matic 250 mig and love it. But i need a smaller one as well for body work and such. Here are my local choices. Hobart handler,Clarke,Lincoln weld-pak and Auto-Arc. I have never heard of Auto-Arc but it's made in the USA and the store says they can get any part for it over night. It's cheaper and seems well built.Anyone have any feedback on them?

Just got done googling them and it looks like you are right. They are 1/2 price of a hobart at the local farm supply.

But still made in the USA. I only recently seen that brand in the local Orschelns; if you wait I saw that they will drop down in price.

At my Orcshelns they were $320 I think. The price was dropped to $270 for Xmas shopping.

Miller again

I would love another Miller,But i need one i can layaway or something along those lines and the Miller dealer does not do that.I am terrible about saving money for something for me,My wife or kids i can save whatever till i have the money for whatever they want.If i do layaway it feels kinda like a loan payment and it has to be made.

That's where i saw them at,They were $325 or so and the hobart of the same size was $700:shocking: But tractor supply has them online for $399 with a cart and helmet,But i don't know if the cart is worth $75 bucks as i already have a cart that i want to build for it.

I vote for the Lincoln. We have a couple at work for the tight areas and they work wonderfully for what we do.

I haven't checked the welder you're looking at but if you're doing autobody work, the ability to dial in (vs tap) the voltage is really a worthwhile feature. I've got a Lincoln 140c and love that I can dial voltage up and down "just a little bit". Particularly when doing the lighter stuff, being able to get the juice just right is important. I was welding some 14 gauge last night and while that's fairly thick material, it needed just that little bit more heat which my welder allows for. I know they say you can control by welding speed and by wire speed but ....

fwiw, my 2 cents

I have both the Lincoln weldpac 135 and also the Hobart 140. Both are very good units but I like the way the HH140 welds a little better than the Lincoln. I now use the Lincoln for aluminum and the Hobart for everything else.

This kind of goes cross grain to most everything us guys do but.....
why not get drive rolls, contact tips and wire for your Millermatic 250 and weld sheet metal with it?

If you do buy another machine get the Hobart!
