Anyone know the model number on this 5" Wilton Mechanic's vise? The only numbers on it are 111066 on the fixed jaw and 111067 on the moving jaw. I need a model number to order parts.

Red: I wanted to let you know I saw your Wilton vise thread go by and since I didn't know which version you had I thought one of the Wilton guys might see it. they must all be busy so I'm not sure where you are getting the parts, but KMScott has a web site for Wiltons and plenty of knowledge.

PM him with the link to your thread here and I bet if he doesn't have the parts to sell you he will probably have an idea where to get them.

www.wiltonviseparts.net is his website for some of the stuff he makes and he has more talent making these than most of us will ever dream of being able to do.

I have this EXACT vise, same 111066/111067 casting numbers, the original label is a little easier to read on mine, but it has no model number, only "Mechanics Vise". Mine had mismatched jaws someone had tried to butcher onto it. In the early 90's a call to McMaster-Carr describing it as a 5" Wilton Mechanics Vise got me new Wilton jaws in a matter of days (McMaster is unbeatable). I think the price was around $40. The jaws were (are) fantastic - beautifully machined, very sharp points, and very hard. Twenty years later there isn't a mark on them. Even came with new mounting screws.

Might be worth trying McMaster now - they list repair parts for other styles of Wilton vises.

When you get a model number would you post it? I'd really like to know. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I actually am looking for jaw pads with hardware. One pad is damaged and the other isn't correct and is improperly fastened. The pads I need are 5" long 3/4" tall and 1/2" thick. Any more ideas ? I'd still like to know a model number.

I had one exactly like that but a 6". In small letters on the side of the dynamic jaw (I think), it said 6A. I looked up 6A and found it...maybe that's a 5A??

I believe thats a 645. 5L X .5H X .75W 2.375 hole width. Same jaws as a 1750 tradesman. Part #WIL2904110

I just acquired one with some other tools a couple of weeks ago. It's a 645 like 1steve said. Here's a pic with the casting #. Mine needs a new lead screw which will probably be challenge to find. On the shelf it will sit:drool:.

I was hoping for a model number and you guys pop out a part number! I found em' on Amazon for a decent price so I think I'll order. The only review on them says the screws that came with them didn't fit the vise, but the jaw pads fit fine. My and the reviews author both have 1/4-20 NC threads in our vises. I can come up with some screws though, unless there's another part number jaw set that includes 1/4-20 NC screws.

If you haven't ordered form amazon yet don't! Advance Auto has much better price http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/we...roduct_jaws-insert-1750-645-wilton_22987527-p

I ordered the exact same ones Monday and wondered why one day (yesterday) later the UPS guy was looking for me, they are already here! Unfortunately the 20% coupon I used expired Monday as well so that won't help you out.

Wow, that is a better price. I haven't ordered them yet. What did the shipping set you back? And do you know what thread size your vise jaws take? Mine are 1/4-20 NC thread and one review I read said the screws that came with it may be metric. Can you shed any light here?

Shipping was $9.99, I paid $18.47 with the 20% discount and $2.35 tax for $30.81 total. If you can wait a bit get on Advances email list and wait for a discount code, one usually comes out every week.

I just put them on, the screws included were smaller and did not work, I have the 1/4-20 NC as well. Bought 4 new 3/4'" phillips round head screws, had to both shorten them a tad and reduce the head diameter using a grinder.

in case you want to buy some nice copper Wilton jaws for your vise there is a seller on Ebay (can I use this word here on GJ?) that I have bought many from that are 6 inches wide and only $30 shipped. they work great and sellers don't come much nicer.

Bluebolt thanks for sharing all that information.

Bluebolt, I used that coupon code and got my vise jaw pads and two sets of those pipe gripper pads ordered. I also picked up an inner tie rod end I've been meaning to change on my truck so I got the free shipping also. All your help is very appreciated! Thanks!

Drivesitfar, when I can finally get a 6" Wilton Machinist vise tree'd up I definitly will look into those copper jaw pads. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone that helped me ID and get parts for this well used little Wilton 5"er. While hardly a restoration a good pressure washing, lubrication, fresh set of jaw pads, pipe jaws, an anvil file treatment and replacement of all the damaged or missing hardware will get it back into it's ready status as a "user" vise lol.

looks like a great user vise now and the copper jaws will cover up the few flaws around the top of the jaws. if you end up getting them I bend the wings on mine down over the vise like I did on this Rock Island 577 or some just leave them straight. I like using them all the time so bending them down keeps them in place better because they move around a bit when straight.

I wasn’t able to stumble on a manufacturing date but with some help from the guys here they put me on exact part numbers for what I needed. I actually ended up ordering new vise jaw pad sets from Advance Auto’s website.
