Which wires can I run in the same trench?

I've tried searching for this but there are too many results to filter through. We are planning a 24x40 shop at our new home in the San Diego area and I'd like to dig just one trench if I can get away with it to run all of electrical/phone-computer wire/TV cable. Is it acceptable to run all of these in a single trench? Do they need to be in separate conduits or may I put the phone/TV in the same conduit?

We will be running a water line as well but I wouldn't think that I should run that in the same trench.

I would keep the phone/computer wires separated by at least a foot. The cable tv is already in a shielded cable so it would be ok anywhere.

edit) The non shielded cables will "read" the induced voltage that surrounds the service cable.There is another "technical" term,but thats what happens.

I put in 75 feet high voltage and low voltage in the same trench but in different conduit. 2" for high and 1" for low-cable/phone/alarm- without any problems. Trench was 18" deep with the conduits laying on top of each other up to the house and shed.

I also took a compus bearing and pictures of its location so I would know where the trench was for future repairs etc. Never had to do a repair but I gave that information to the next owner of the house incase he needed to do any work.

how far is the run? conduit? You aren't suppose to run ethernet cable next to power cable.

The run will be less than 50-ft.

For that short of a run, I'd put in 2 runs of conduit...it's cheap enough and you can stub it up in the new building. 1 for electrical and 1 for whatever else. (That's what I did)

ethernet cable is "twisted pair" to reduce crosstalk i have personally ran this alongside 415v cables with no problem burying cables in trenches will have local regulations governing separation i cant quote on this as im in uk but local government inspectors are usually helpfull if you dont need permits that is

Put the power in RMC. the RMC will act as a shield.

Went through this recently myself.

Code in my area says: Nat gas line must be min of 12" away from AC (not sure if you are running gas). It also says that AC and low voltage must be a min of 12" apart but can be right beside the gas line.

I decided to run the gas line and low voltage wires along once side of the trench and the AC along the other.

You can also seperate vertically in the same trench.

I would not bother trying to seperate low voltage lines. They are all shielded (CAT5/6 and COAX at least) and neither of them radiate energy nearly as much as a loaded AC line will.
