Okay, so I just bought my self the Craftsman 106 piece set for like $63 at the local Sears. So now I need wrenches.

I know for sure I will be upgrading the Craftsman set in the future, probably for SK. So this will eventually be my car kit... but I want to buy nice wrenches now. I have a okay set of Companions, 11 piece. So those can go in the car eventually...

So whats good? Craftsman Pro have a nice pricepoint. SK? I dont really want Snap On.

Well, I'd say that it depends on what you'll use them for.
For what I've done, which is weekend repair work, the craftsman 6 pt raised panels have worked just fine. I've never had a problem with the open ends spreading and they've held up great. But they're just not in the same league as some other wrenches out there.
The craftsman pro's I have are real nice, though I'm a little confused on whether or not production's moving to China - there's been a lot of discussion about this on the board and I'm sure someone else will be able to clarify this. If it's true that they're moving overseas, you may want to look elsewhere. SK are great and they seem to have a pretty solid future. The SK's I've used have been top notch and held up perfectly. If money wasn't an option, then a truck brand or maybe proto would be the way to go. I prefer the proto full polish wrenches but they'll cost you and if you don't want Snap On (I assume for the price), I imagine that proto might be a little costly too.

Why not get a set of the raisel paned C-man? You really can't go wrong with them unless you just want shiny puurdy tools. And thay are a great price. You could also try to Kobalts at Lowes.

Williams, Proto and Armstrong are three solid manf's that you can easily buy off ebay. I have a couple of SAE Mac sets available, one chrome and the other is the older CW series satin finish, you can PM me if interested.

Unfortunately they are. I just bought my Craftsman Pro wrenches this past fall and a few more this past week, but there were definitely sets at my local Sears that were missing the "Made in USA" flag, missing the stamped USA on the wrenches themselves and clearly stated "Contents made in China" on the back of the packaging. It is really sad actually.

The raised panels still seem to be made in the USA.

I would recommend a combination wrench set and then a double box offset wrench set. I wouldn't bother with a double open end set.

go with most any affordable brands like craftsman.... then slowly look for deals on Snap-on. don't get in a hurry the deals will come.

Mac is owned by Stanley... so guess who makes Mac tools?
Stanley tools are sleepers... very nice quality box end wrenches

all depends on your price range:
Truck brands - Cornwell or Matco
Store brands - Cman Pro
Other brands - Northern...http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200263774_200263774
For the money my northern wrenches are awesome.

I have to agree.
The northern wrenches are great. I have a full set 5.5mm to 25mm and 1/4"- 1-1/4" and I love them. They are much longer then the craftsman raised panel wrenches, And made by the same company.
They almost mirror the Gearwrench non-ratcheting wrenches. They are made by overseas by Danaher and have the "surface drive" box ends (also like the Gearwrench wrenches).

Over all they are not snap-on quality, But I like them a lot better then normal craftsman raised panel wrenches. The chrome is top quality and ive yet to have one fail or slip in the two years ive owned them.

i bought 2 sets (metric/sae) of duralast ratcheting wrenches at a garage sale a couple years ago, paid 50 for both, and they are one of the best tool investments i have made. i have used them to put engines in a couple of hondas and the ratchet mechanism has seen more than its fair share of dead blow whacks and i have never broken one. take a good look a these i use them at least once a week.
