Well if you already have a set of combo's, but the flex's. Or visa versa

ya, thats the problem i have both

I kinda of thought that's what you meant in your first post but wasn't following it too well. So that being the case I'd get yourself a set of Toptul long reach combo's, or for that matter any other decent brand. Those SK kickass for sure but a set of LR's really come in handy.

I have both of those. They're both good sets, but really are apples to oranges. I don't understand why you would be buying either if you already have sets of each style.

Those Gearwrenches are great, and serve my needs well. The SK combos are decent, but if buying combos again they wouldn't be my first pick. I hope to sell them in the near future and replace them with a set of WrightGrip satin finish combos.

Details on the Platinums LXcam? You can PM if it would jam up the thread.

On topic: The Super Chromes are nice, basic wrenches. Nice finish, generally do the job. No "catch" to them though (flank drive, wright grip, Mac edge etc.). Pretty tough, and clean up easy. They are very pretty when new.

I don't have those GWs. I can say that I generally like Gearwrench, and I find their products good for the money (have ratchets and sockets). Been tempted by their long pattern wrenches, and they are on my wishlist. Unless I can get a decent deal on clean used truck brand wrenches... either way, they're a contender.

Do either of these sets offer something a current set doesn't? Are they longer, shorter, tougher, or offer different angles of flex? If the answer isn't yes to any of the above, I wouldn't bother.

I'll be the contrarian... if you already have several full sets, keep an eye out for nice used Mac, SK, even older Craftsmans. You'll end up with nice tools and have $100 left over (to buy more tools, of course)

I have Wright for my metric sizes, Craftsman Industreal for SAE. The Craftsmans are a long pattern wrench, the Wrights somewhere between a standard and long pattern. Wright Grip open ends can't be beat, though they will mar the fastener if you have to crank down on something.

Wright Grips are pretty comparable in price to the S-Ks.

Keep an eye out for older off-brands on flea-bay,
I have two sets (11pc SAE and 13pc Metric) of new-in-pouch KAL USA (made in Los Angeles, CA) combination wrenches

I got them for $75 including shipping for BOTH sets.
Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than be good?

Skip the flex ratcheting and go with offset reversible or GW Gearbox instead.

Unless your current combination set is lacking in any way, upgrade that first.
