White cedar log...

Any ideas for use of a white cedar log that is approx. 8" in diameter at the base(tapers smaller on opposite end), and approx 20' long?

Actually, it exists right now as a tree in my yard that needs to come down.

My wife suggested a post for a bird feeder, but that would probably come from the top end.

Maybe cut it up for bird houses?

It is crowded with other trees. Easier to cut it than the other trees around it. Getting ready to sell the 17 year old dream house. I want a keepsake.

Find someone that hand makes top water plugs . White cedar makes a nice plug . It is light weight and stronger than balsa wood.

Yup white cedar makes a great fishing lure, I use it all the time for top water striped bass lures

white cedar is naturally rot resistant, so I'd vote for something meant to endure weather. Adirondack chair, picnic table, rain barrel, raised planting bed, window box...

Of course, getting it milled into rough lumber may be a feat. A lot of lumber yards are finnicky about what they'll mill for customers. Unless you have a capable bandsaw, a resaw blade, and know-how.
