Getting ready to break ground on a garage 42' x 42'. I'm interested in using white corrugated metal to cover the ceiling and the walls. Anyone have any experience with this type of wall finish? Down or up. Thanks.

Personally, I would use it on the ceiling but not the walls. Putting it on the walls can make it a pita to hang stuff or build stuff against.

To each their own.

I have it on the ceiling and walls. Best thing for me. I made a sketch of where the wall perlins are and when I hang stuff, I just remove the screws that hold the tin on and re-use the same hole. For hanging shop posters/flags, I use magnets. Best part, once it's done, no more painting, and it cleans easy.

My son and I used it for the ceiling and walls. I have a 15 foot ceiling so we have 8 foot plywood from the floor up and above that we have the steel. I didn't want the corrugated on the bottom of the walls for a few different reasons. First, if for some reason I wanted to get behind the walls, for adding electric or air, it's very easy to remove the plywood in the area I want to get to. With the steel you mount it with overlapping edges and if I wanted to get to an area in the center of the wall I'd have to somehow either peel back the adjoining panel which would be a pain. Second, I tend to move a lot of project around with my forklift and occasionally I bump into the wall in a tight maneuver. Doing this would leave dents in the metal which would horrible. If I do damage a piece of the plywood I can again, easily remove and replace it. Third, I want to hand something on the wall I can drill into the plywood and have flat surface to mount to. Also, if I get bored with the color if have it painted I can always repaint it.

Your intended use of the space may also help determine direction. I used it in my shop on ceiling and walls because I did a lot of metalworking. Lots of sparks from torches grinders and welders. Also easy to clean once a year. If you are into woodworking, the ceiling would be good but painted plywood Walls would work good. So think through how your space will be used and you may end up with a combination of surfaces.

I have white metal ceilings. The walls are painted osb for the lower 8’, and white steel for the upper 8’.

Not a fan of the osb, but maybe it would look better with a fresh coat of paint. I think steel all the way up and just running horizontal 1x6 or 2x6 boards horizontally in limited zones would suffice for hanging things.

I am a little concerned with Fire when welding and grinding with osb walls down low.

It’s definitely been on my mind. I plan to drywall and finish my attached garage this year. Thought it might be easier to take out if I ever needed to access plumbing or ductwork that runs in the ceiling, underneath half the house (split level).

GRAY corrugated metal ceiling & Knotty Pine Walls

A pic of ceiling, it is gray metal roofing sheets, with knotty pine siding walls, with bright diamond plate sheeting on wall bottom and on top of pit covers.
(Thaz me on the 3rd from left....the oldest fart in the room!)

I have since then put 1' square plastic interlocking tiles on the floor...mainly light gray, with only 25 of them being black with a specific pattern

I have white metal ceiling in my garage with plywood walls. 30x40. One tip is to have them roll the metal upside down so the white side is the flat side. It looks much better that way ( all the ribs are up )

Thinking metal walls and cieling. White. Want maximum lighting. Thinking surface mount electric and air. Good insulation and sealed wall for Max insulation. Will have water bib and slop sink in one location, keeping it simple. Still investigating metal choices.
