White floor with no grit too slippery?

I love the look of a WHITE epoxy floor with no grit/flakes/etc... just a perfectly smooth floor where stuff rolls nicely on it It's Wisconsin though and we are definitely going to be pulling cars in with snow on them.

Would I be making a huge mistake going this route?

Garage is existing so I won't have a chance to mess with the drainage on the floor.

Have you seen the thread about the dirty tan race deck tile? Just don’t be like that guy and expect it to stay clean UNless you have some really good top coats to take the abuse??

I have always been envious of the airplane hangars with clean floors, no flake, bright lights. White would be amazing.

An off white color is a better option. You will want to use a white polyurea base coat or white tinted polyurethane top coat to prevent ambering. Unless you want your surface like and ice rink in the winter time when it gets wet, you will need some anti-slip media in your final coat.

I would love to do the white also but I have to be realistic as to I’m working in mine with a two post lift and some fab work. So it’s going to get marks and scratches and such, but to me that gives it the character. But I’m REALLY thinking no anti slip in mine too, so I’m also curios as to what others have to say.

not sure why white would make it any more slippery than a different color.

i didnt add flakes or anti slip into mine. Its only slippery when wet, also depending on what shoes i am wearing. im just aware that it maybe slippery when wet.

Please dont do it with no non skid in a garage. It will be slippery and someone could fall and slip. We, for liability reasons, won't sell a floor w/o nonskid.

Our small particle size Armorgrip nonskid barely deglosses the floor. Color doesn't matter they are all the same as far as being slippery or not. Lots of GJ discussions about not doing a white floor in a garage, too hard to keep clean, but we do carry them if desired.

Agree with Shea, consider Off White or Light Gray. Our Light Gray is very light like a pewter color and in our opinion be a better choice for a garage.

Yes you will be making a huge mistake with no slip granules omitted. What’s a beautiful garage if you have a broken hip. It’s ridiculously slick not only with water but also stuff like sawdust. I am in snow country as well and did double the recommended amount at doors and traffic areas. It will not look smooth as glass but will make it safe

We had a shiny epoxy floor at work. If there was any dust on it (like sawdust) it was a death trap which was unfortunate since it was a crating area and there was almost always sawdust on it. I imagine it would be similar if wet.

All of the colors we offer cover super well especially if going with a solid color as opposed to flecks we automatically supply to GJ Members the topcoat pigmented instead of clear at no additional cost. Three pigmented layers cover fantastic!
