Made these benches for a custom order in October, the white oak was milled by my local mill kiln dried it at my shop.

Used the cnc to cut all my parts and mortis and tenons I hand carved the images I can do it faster than screwing around with making a 3d file for a 1 off project.

Really enjoy building with white oak.

Nice work you did. I also prefer white over red oak almost every time.
Absolutely white oaks capillaries close up. I have put vacuum patterns on red oak and have it stick to the shaper table. Red oak rots pretty fast outside.

I have pieces made from white oak that have been out 20 years.

-White oak doesn't seem to "move" as much as red does once cured/stabilized. Perhaps it's the species around here (Appalachia) but red oak also stinks when you cut deeply into it. I try not to use red oak in furniture making for structural or appearance components if I have a choice.

White also makes a superior impact/training weapon/truncheon than red oak.

Nice!

Here's a boat builder's explanation about red oak vs. white oak; apparently even boat builders have trouble sourcing the correct species of oak, and they have to examine every piece before they use it. Red oak is completely inappropriate for boat building. And you can't always tell just by looking.
