White Residue after acid etch???

Morning,

I acid etched my floors last night in preparation for putting down epoxy. I used the Behr product from Home Depot. After the first etching and thorough rinsing, there were some spots that had a chalky residue. I read on the etching container that if this happens, you should etch the floor again.

Well, I did it again and rinsed the floor around 14 or 15 times. The results are better, but there are still some spots that have this residue. Is there any way else to get this off? Could I use some solvent and rags? Tack cloth? Am I being too ****?

i washed the floor with simplegreen/water after i acid etched it to make sure there wasnt any residue after i finished.

from my understanding the acid etch is supposed give the epoxy something to grip onto when it it laid down (as well as clean the floor, but moreso as a surface prep)

So perhaps I should just use more cleaner and wash the floor again? I guess I'll give it a try. Any other ideas??

The company that applied our coating, powerwashed everything first with a good cleaner/degreaser, then rinsed and dried. They then used muratic acid and used a stiff push broom to work the acid around, then rinsed off the acid BEFORE it dried and squeegeed then rinsed again and squeegeed again. No white residue.

I just wanted to update this......

I bought a watering can that has the numerous holes in the end to make a shower effect and I bought a bottle of Muriatic acid. These two things made a huge difference.

I think that the Behr etchant must have a lot of detergents in it and that what was making it so difficult to get the floor completely rinsed.

The watering can made a huge difference in getting an evenly etched surface.
