I purchased a lot of the Estate universal storage cabinets made by RSI from Lowes for my garage. After three years some of the drawer fronts on the 3 drawer base cabinets are starting to delaminate. The garage is a typical attached and is not heated or air conditioned but for short periods when I may be working in it. So it gets wide temp changes and humidity changes. I assume it’s the moisture in the air that has caused the vinyl coating to separate from the MDF core. The thing is it’s only the three drawer base cabinets that are doing this, none of the other cabinets are having this problem.

To make a long story short I called RSI and asked if this was covered by the limited life time warranty and was told it was. I was ready for the third degree but the CSR didn’t question me at all about the environment that the cabinets were installed in or any proof of purchase. She simply asked how many drawer fronts I needed and when I told her 6, she replied we’ll get those shipped right out to you. Thanks for buying RSI products, have a great day. So if anyone else has these cabinets and is experiencing this problem, don’t hesitate to call RSI.

Sounds like you're not the first person to call in complaining about those drawer fronts. Nice service, though.

I had a set of Klipsch speakers once. The model failed so frequently that when I called them up they were like, uh, hey, what's your address? No receipt required, no argument, no proof of purchase date, nothing. They just sent a brand new set of the new model speakers. And these were like $4-500 speakers. Maybe they had a return label for the old ones, I think.

Funny thing is that the replacements had the same problem, good for four years or so then they died. Oh well.

What you're experiencing is not uncommon for any vinyl or "Thermofoil" type of cabinet. It's due to humidity. You may want try to condition the space with a de-humidifier at the least.

Cabinets are so easy to build.
I would find a good used table saw for under $200 and build my own. You will get a much better cabinet. You can find how to build them on the web. It is a no brainer.

All the cabinets you get these days are pure ****. Even the high end are laminated junk. There are hundreds of companies around the country that make nothing but doors. You can buy your doors ro just use MDF board coated both sides or not. Then take a shamfer bit in a rounter and put a back bevel on the door edges. I have bult dozens of cabinets for garages and they look very nice and you can even beef them up to hold heavy items.

If you can turn a werench you can build a cabinet.
Table saw
Good Forest Blade
Stack tato set
Bosh or Poter Cable router and 2 bits
Dowling jig, drill and 3/8" bit
6 face frame clampst #70
Screwdriver, tape measure, bit adapter for apex for the drill so you can drive the screws when you mount them to the wall.

All cabinets are made for inside use unless stated otherwise. You need the cheap MDF board painted cabinets.
