White Tool Boxes

I'm wondering what everyone's thoughts on white tool boxes are. I'm think of buying a MAC and I think the white is pretty slick. Especially with chrome trim

Are they any harder to keep clean than other colors (My other choice is yellow).

As a side note, this will be used in a Aviation setting

Maybe someone can post some pictures of white boxes as well?

There is a guy that has a white SO box at a dealership near my shop. In the summer, when the bay doors are open, you can see it from the street. It looks awesome!!! I have always wanted an orange SO box, but the white SO boxes are making me have second thoughts. I think the white would be easier to keep clean than a black box. But I only have red boxes, so I can't say for sure.

One of my car hobby acquaintances outfitted his garage with white Lista cabinets last year. It looks incredible.

I am at the very beginning of painting an entire shop white. This will include 6 mobile tool carts. White will show dirt more than a dark color like navy blue or black of course. If kept clean white looks very good. The secret is staying on top of cleaning the smudges and dirt as soon as practical.

Huuumm. Well I'm not the greatest at keeping up with cleaning my box, I normally wait until its pretty hideous to clean it off. Maybe White isn't the best choice. Yellow it is then

No I do not own any, but I have seen them. Both the MAC and SO ones are pretty sweet. As far as clean, yea it would show more, but that is what the last 10 minutes of your day in the shop is for.

Yellow can't be much better. Follow your heart. From what you say, you ought to order a camouflage scheme.

Maybe being white it will make you more conscious to be cleaner and neater with your box. might be the best thing you can do.

Well I don't mind having to wipe it down at the end of the day... I just don't want every little oily fingerprint to show up, it would drive me nuts.

I'm hoping someone that uses a white tool box can chime in... haha

I think white would be a fine color and look classy. Seems like it would be like a white car, contrary to popular opinion it actually shows less. The white in a sea of other typical boxes says POW LOOK AT ME.

White box is gonna show dirt and grease more than any other color. Go in your kitchen with a greasy hand and touch your refrigerator. At least with white you will know if its clean or not.

Well I think white cars hide dust and rain residues well, not sure how well white would hide various oils.

White will not hide oil, in fact the reason you see white in many airplane and boat engines is to highlight any leaks. That said; I have a number of white machines and cabinets that are used and not hard to keep presentable. It really depends on the painted surface, a good paint is easy to clean and durable. A rattle can paint job would not hold up to constant use. I have a white car and truck, when I get fingerprints or smudges that don't wash away or wipe off with a clean rag I use a bit of Stoddard solvent and they usually come right off.

I don't have any pictures to show the white cabinets as they are in Kansas and I am in L.A. right now. They are in a machine / mechanical shop where the get used daily.

I'm pretty sure MAC uses a high gloss powder coat. I'm pretty sure that'd be pretty easy to maintain.

To be honest, yellow isn't gonna be that much better....

Here's Lista in white at McLaren. I'm working on a project that will be white Lista for a race shop. Don't have any pics yet.

I think light gray looks good too. I've also shown yellow from one of their tradeshows.

Go with the white, you won't regret it(probably). If it helps you to be a cleaner mechanic overall, your customers will appreciate it.
