I think the cheapest you'll find is an older 8pc set of Cman. They're on the shorter side but at one time went for around $50-$60 through ebay. Look for this style packaging, you could even check your local stores for these sets as they tended to collect dust on the shelves. With online sales and a coupon you could get them down to ~$70ish

Other than that look for Matco or Armstrong on ebay. Armstrong sets pop up every so often for cheap cash. Heres a set right now thats a tad on the high side compared to the normal going rate but priced very fairly. It will probably be harder to score a Matco branded set for less.

Sears has which ones? The Gearwrench brand? Yeah I seen that, and they arent really bad. Ive seen people that have had their sets for years, and used pretty good. But no failures.

Armstrong and Snap-on are the only two options for USA made at the moment.

You can also find old production Craftsman on ebay, which are pretty much Armstrong, although different lengths.

I can't answer about ther reversible wrenches but I unfortunately bought some Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches that are made in China. They are total poop.

I have the SO made in USA reversible ones and love them. I've always used regular SO wrenches so it's nice to have the same feel and strength. They are also flank drive on the open end if you prefer that too.

if you want some quality ones check out Husky at Home Depot, they don't break the bank and are the same castings as Blackhawks which many regard as the best.

I have Husky, Blackhawks and Gearwrench, with also a set of Armstrongs en-route. I really like the Blackhawks a lot, waiting for the Armstrongs to get here to give them a try.

Also, bear in mind not all makes seem to have all sizes so you may need to take that into consideration when purchasing. My Huskys are 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19, where as my 8 piece GW kit is 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 19.
