Who calibrates torque wrenches?

I have quite a few torque wrenches, new & used, that I'd like to have calibrated for peace of mind. What type of shop offers this service? Tool repair? I looked in the Yellow Pages, but didn't find anything. Do I have to ship to some kind of service center? Or better yet...how to DIY?

Cool...there's one local, but looks expensive! I'm not a big company, just a booger-eater. Do you know how much they charge (and do they deal with small potatoes?).

Most of the truck tool dealers send them in too.Snap On sends the Snap On torque wrenches into one of their own facilities.Mac and Matco are the same way.The torque wrench calibration places will not do the cheap throw away torque wrenches.

Man my SO dealer just quoted me $80 a piece for a recalibration which seems high. He claims they rebuild them if needed for that price. I wish SO would offer just a cal. check and if it's in send it back and charge less.

A buddy of mine runs an aviation shop. About once a year I bring my wrenches and connect my clicker wrenches to one of his dial wrenches. Usually they are dead on. My 3/8" wrench was off by a few inch pounds in the high end of the scale, which

Yeah, I don't do much wrenching and nothing highly technical, but I would like to be sure they're somewhat accurate.

Check out the teamtorque link above. They say they're authorized for SnapOn and the cost appears to be $35. Perhaps some of that $80 you're quoted ends up in the dealers pocket...

Yeah, I don't do much wrenching and nothing highly technical, but I would like to be sure they're somewhat accurate.

Yeah, I don't use mine all that often either....What I meant was that I do use my 3/8" occasionally, but I have never used it real high in it's scale. If a faster needs like 280 in/lbs, I'll just use my ft/lb wrench, which I know is accurate in it's range..

It depends on what wrench you have but SO quoted me $30ish for calibration only, complete rebuild if needed $60ish.

This is their Nevada/Western region rebuild center.

That's too much I think. Recalibration should be 40, and 40 extra IF it needs to be rebuilt. If it's older and can't be rebuilt, they will red tag it and give you credit on a new one. I'm dealing with this right now on my 1/4 drive...

I 2nd Angle Repair.
Very good outfit and I see that their prices are still very reasonable.
Sending a TW for cal. or repair through a tool truck dealer is like shipping through a Mailboxes store. Least efficient and most costly.

Angle repair is 25 plus shipping. I should get two back from them tomorrow. They only do American though. I have a Hazet I'd like checked. Don't know yet who does the Germans.

to find a shop in my area I used Google Maps and searched "calibration" - I was able to find a few shops that did it. Most charged $35-$50 for a wrench.

In the end I sent the wrench in question back to Snap-on to be calibrated and repaired. They told me it would be $75 max for calibration, repair (if needed), and return shipping; I just got a call today letting me know the bill was $65. Well worth it imo to have the peace of mind of a factory repair/tuneup...

I have found Angle picky about what they work on in the past, Team Torque repaired a wrench that Angle said you can't fix anymore so now I just send everything to Team Torque or if its a Proto I have sent them tools also.
