I carry a Charge TTi and have a Supertool 200 in my truck as a backup.

Go for the TTi, its the top of the line and definitely worth it.

Yea it sure looked nice, but I've already pulled the trigger on a black oxide super tool 300. Since it was the heavy duty model. But from what I hear about leatherman products you really cant go wrong with any of them.

I like all the Leatherman and Gerber ones made in Portland. I also like the Swiss Tool.

I often carry onebut not all the time like my folders.

Gerber since 1997. USCG. Love the flip of the wrist to open. Have cut heliax cable and small trees with saw blade and can't count number of phillps head screws it's been thru and still does the job. Leatherman in the kayak only because it was free.

My super tool 300 in black oxide came in today. Bought it off ebay for $52 with free shipping. It feels very heavy duty, not flimsy at all. Not a big fan of the MOLLE case though, i intend to carry and use this for work so i will be looking for a new case. if anybody knows of anywhere let me know. Anyways here's some pics. I apologize for the crappy iPhone pics.

I am also a big fan of the skeletool. just the basics, 2 sizes of flat and phillips, nice knife, pliers, cutters, and a bottle opener, and a pocket clip thats not in the way. and its no bigger than the Kershaw Mini Cyclone that it replaced.

I have a surge as well, great tool, I think it was or is the one with the most features, but its so bulky to carry, i never have it when i need it. Its reserved for camping trips and stuff like that, where i can throw it in a backpack. I should really send it back though, as it needs the jaws tightened, I tried cutting some smaller wire rope with it, and although it did it, it did something to it, and it has been loose ever since.

I have a victorinox swisstool that is nice, I bought it because i had read that it was the tool that les stroud uses on his show, but i'm not sure if it actually is or not. Nice, but not worth the premium price that i paid for it. its shinier than a leatherman, but not any more useful, and i HATE victorinox knife blades. it does come with something every big leatherman should have though, a decent bit driver setup. The corkscrew attachment ***** though, I bent mine on a bottle my wife was having me open.

Does leatherman make a leather case for it? My wave leather case has survived daily carry for 13 years. Now I am looking at finding a replacement but only because I want to make my own.

I think they make one for it. But there website leave a lot to be desired. If I could find a nice leather case I'd buy it in a heart beat

There's a bunch of cases on evil bay http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=+leatherman++leather+case+&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I have had the wave for about 8 years now, great tool, I use it most everyday at work, the thing a like best about it is the fact that both blades are easily accessible with the flick of your thumb, it seems that when ever I need to cut something, I inevetably have only one hand free (unfolding the halves of a multi tool to get at the blades seems counter intuitive to me). :dunno:

LM Juice S2 (belt pouch) OR LM Squirt P4 (slip pouch in pocket) OR random Victorinox SAK (cargo pocket), depending on the pants. I would recommend a pouch for the multitools to keep lint and dirt out of the nooks and crannies.

I had a Leatherman Wave for 3 years and it served me well in SAR, off-roading, hiking/camping and at work. I lost it on a search 6 years ago and I hope someone will find it and return it, it has my name and SAR teams name engraved on it. Not likely though.

I now have a Leatherman Fuse that I got for christmas from work 2 years ago. I don't like it as much as the Wave. I want a Wave again but haven't justified it since I usually have the right tool around and I'm no longer active in SAR and seldomly get the time to go off-roading or hiking.

I have a cheap Kraftwerk multitool at work that just sits in my tool cabinet.

I'll get a Wave one of these days.

Add me to the list of guys who carry a Wave.

I've been carrying one daily for years; feel naked without it. Years ago I bought them for all my staff for Christmas gifts as I got sick of the running back to the shop for a cordless drill/driver every time they just needed to tighten a screw. 2 minutes with the leatherman or 10 minutes to run up the docks to the shop and back. Geez...

I also keep a single AAA flashlight in the standard holster and a rack of extra bits for the driver with common sizes of straight, phillips, and allens. Makes it a little bulkier on the hip, but not much.

No matter what multi-tool you go with, just be sure it's got a one-handed knife. I used to use a standard Leatherman but since 90% of the time I'm just reaching for a knife (open a package, cut a line, etc) the exterior blades of the Wave (and others) are worth their weight in gold.

Forgive me if all this has already been said....too lazy to read all 4 pages!

I agree with Zelatore. The external blades with the option of flipping them with your thumb are so worth it. That is my main gripe with the Fuse, having to open the plier to get to the blade is cumbersome and that also means that you have all the tools pressing into your palm when squeesing the pliers instead of having smooth sides in your palm.

Nope I have a "crunch" as well as the original leatherman and I also have a MUT.
I took the crunch recently on a trip and during the trip it was snowing really bad. My wiper fluid was summer blend and I needed the below 0 stuff because the summer stuff just sprayed and froze to the windshield.

Somewhere in Idaho in a damn near blizzard I used my only tool I had (crunch) to remove the bolts on my windshield wiper bottle so I could dump it out and refill it with the better stuff. It worked perfectly.. I was stressing pretty hard as I had the kids and wife in the truck and being in an unfamiliar place.
