In the market for one....boy they are $$$$!!!!

I see a few for under $300 like Summit, Sunex, Ranger, HF etc. This is for my home shop with little use each year on my lift.

I bought the big red one off amazon, same as HF, Northern, etc have.

It was able to support the ZF6 out of my F250. My cousin did a dodge diesel with one and they bent the plate some, but the didn't pull the t-case so it had way too much on it. Still lifted it back up.

The tilt/pan adjust is not easy under load. Greasing the threads will help some, also when you first attach to the ****** keep the plate flat and shim to the case. If you tilt it too far early on you can't tilt it later if the angle is too much due to the knob getting stuck

Toss the chains and use a ratchet strap or two. I have also seen to pull the knobs of and replace with bolts to use a ratchet/wrench for the tilt/pan. I will be doing that before I use mine next time.

I feel like I would want the foot controls so when its going up or down you still have use of your hands. Hmm

I have a 1000lb sunex; it's very good
I drop everything with it; fuel tanks, subframes, transmissions. The foot valve for lowering gets stuck closed sometimes and the tilt bed doesn't work perfectly. It is a
Workhorse and I would buy another

I have a TORIN TR4076 & would NOT buy it again.

www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00028FB6S/

I got it from amazon & they had to replace it twice (3 shipments total) before I got one that I could part together to make one working jack. The box is very poorly designed (too thin on the bottom) & the jack literally bounces hole through the bottom of it during shipping.

The first one had 4 broken casters & a broken adjustment knob, I called up TORIN & they said they would not replace any parts (even though I had the parts list in my hand with item #s) & that I had to return it to amazon.

The second one came & it was in worse shape....didnt even unbox it fully.

The third one came & I swapped some parts off of the other two onto it to make it work...then returned box 1 & 2.

Now, onto the jack....

1. The adjustment knobs ****!!!!!! They will NOT turn with any load present on the jack itself without using large channellocks. I greased everything prior to use & during use, still no luck.

2. The provided safety chain is a joke (think kids swingset chain). I threw it away & used a ratchet strap.

3. The pressure relief knob is very touchy & if you barely open it the jack will shut extremely fast. It does not lower slowly.....without extreme caution (think maybe 1/32nd of a turn to slowly lower......2 or 3/32nds = fast slam).

NO WAY would I recommend this jack.

If I had it to do over again I would go with the Grizzly H8089 low profile jack....even though the price has skyrocketed on them (1 year ago they were $150....now they are $290).

I have a Harbor Freight heavy-duty transmission jack. I had one at my rock quarry that removed Eaton Roadranger 13-speed heavy truck transmissions for repairs and clutch replacements. I bought another when I sold the quarry. I have used the second one to do a clutch job on a 1999 Ford F350 with the ZF6. We left the transfer case on, and it performed just fine. The latest job I did with it was to drop two gas tanks on a 1995 Ford F450. It's high lift travel made that job much easier.

They are on sale right now for $300.00. I've always been able to use a discount coupon on the sale price if the price wasn't a coupon special. 20% off would make it $240.00 before tax.

I have a Harbor Freight heavy-duty transmission jack...[/URL]

I have that same one, but haven't had time to use it. I had the same problem as someone else had with a different one, the first two arrived with broken casters and ball bearings rolling around in the box. I told them that they should demount the casters before shipping, but the third one arrived with them on and intact.

Mines the small one from HF that is used when working on the ground. I've used it for a lot of stuff I didn't want to lift.

I have the 1,000lb HF transmission jack.
http://www.harborfreight.com/2000-lb-low-profile-transmission-jack-60240-9939.html

I bought it for the last clutch I had to install previous to this I'd been using a regular floor jack with wood and some ratchet straps. Let me tell you it's worth every penny.

Don't get me wrong the HF jack isn't perfect and the tilt knob will get in the way like everyone says but having the ability to adjust the transmission with the tilt and the small amount each handle pump raises the head of the jack really helps getting everything lined up and saves time + headaches.

I bought my jack online and was able to apply the 20% coupon and shipping was dirt cheap.

Got the cheap HF model the older version of this http://t.harborfreight.com/automoti.../800-lb-low-lift-transmission-jack-60234.html pulled a manual out of a new beetle to do a clutch at home with it and pulled several WRX transmissions out with it at home. Nothing that heavy one of the little angle arms broke right off the first use, but other than that just use a ratchet strap the chain is just useless. I wouldn't want to pull a heavy truck trans with a transfer case on it with that jack but for smaller stuff not that bad.

I thought the OP was asking about a hi-lift jack. He was talking about his lift. The hi-lift HF 1100 lb. is cheap but works very well. I would buy this one if I was only going to use it on occasion.
