Who Is The Proto King?

Hey guys....first time posting. I'm an S-K guy....not a Proto guy....found this in an antique shop here in upstate NY and I'm looking for some info on the items that are pictured....and, if anybody knows, whats missing. Specialty tool model numbers are 2354, 2355, 2356, 2357 and 2359....all are marked "USA" so they were made after 1956. The gem here is the 6061 torque wrench....its MINT and marked "Los Angeles" so it was made before 1957 (got the dates from alloy artifacts website). I'm pretty sure the torque wrench isnt original to the kit....kit has charts marked 1960. On the lid of the kit, theres a part number 9973. Looking to for info on whats here, whats missing. I would love to make the kit complete and/or pass it on to someone who collects Proto/Plumb. I have other pics I can pass on.

Tee handle thing will fit a 3/8" drive socket and 1/4" drive socket inside it....Proto model 2357.

Update....bought this for less than $20 and sold it on ebay for $70.00 to a guy who collects Plomb/Proto....NICE!

Aww, I found your very first post Pumpman.

I was Googling around to find out about this Proto 2357 and this thread came up.

And thank you, I figured it was for a transmission.

I just got a 2357 for $5 at a flea market in NJ. I mess around with old machinery more than cars most of the time. 2357 is 1/2" on the larger drive, not 3/8". I encounter concentric adjusting screws and lock nuts fairly often. This gadget will do the trick nicely. Mine is missing the 1/4" shaft, but I suppose since it will be a user, not for a "Proto collection" it won't matter what 1/4" shaft , Allen wrench or screwdriver, if it is a slotted set screw goes thru. I've seen a few other concentric double drives, but mostly really small, like 1/4" nut driver and 1/8" screwdriver. Happy to find this apparent transmission tool.

Update: Found an ad from a March 1958 Pop Mechanics with info about the kit.
