FWIW, I would have bet there wasn't a made in USA tool manufacturer I hadn't come across at least once in fifty years of buying tools. A few weeks back at a local yard sale, I came across a brand-new single 1-5/8" combination wrench made by Martin. A search turned up www.martintoolandforge.com/ and it seems they have been around for a while and make good tools. Anyway, for five bucks, I had to add my first Martin to the box. Anyone familiar with them?

like stated above, they make nice body hammers and label them for most tool tucks. also i believe they are the oem for cornwell punches and chisels. their drive tools look so much like wright's i'll bet they source them from wright.

the tools that came with some of the equipment we bought at the last place I worked were Martin wrenches they seemed to be very good and I liked them alot.
I was tempted to take them when I left but I think that would have been way too obvious

Martin does forge Snap-on's body hammer heads, but the heads snap on sells are their own design, and the handles are a step above Martins.

Regardless, their body hammers are very nice, as are their dollies. They make most of the original Fairmont line still, which have always been a very well respected line of body tools.

Martin says they make their own hard line tools ie: wrenches, sockets, hammers etc. the pliers I have look like Wilde to me, tool boxes are Waterloo. You can e-mail them or call them with questions and they will gladly tell you anything you want. They are good people to deal with and the tools they sell are 99% american made in Dallas where they moved the tooling to from Cleveland when they bought Fairmount in 1983? I think.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Maybe we all learned something.

So TRTOOLSUPPLY, with our GJ discount, would my 1-5/8" Martin combination wrench be more or less than $5? :headscrat

I find that Martin body hammers are very well balanced as are the Snap Ons. The finish on the SO hammers is unmistakably superior. Martin dollies are really nicely finished.
