Who made these old files?

I have a lot of very old files, and among them are these six, all branded with "N. File Co" or "N.F. Co". They were found in a lot of 19th century tools, and I suspect they're from that time. They're beautifully made.
It seems obvious to assume they were made by Nicholson. There's a ton of Nicholson history available, but I can't find anything that says they made files with that stamp. Does anyone have info on this?

only thing I can suggest would be:

Nicholson sold files under a number of different brand names (e.g., "Arcade", "Western", etc.)

Most of the catalog illustrations I have show the files stamped "Nicholson File Co.".

There is ONE 1897 print advertisement which shows a stylized "NF Co" logo, but it doesn't appear to have been used in other ads.
