Pretty much what the title says. It's for sale locally and I'm thinking of buying it for my machine tools. The box I'm using now is getting too small for all of the tools in their cases. I don't feel comfortable taking them all out and taking the chance on getting any damaged. I called and asked, the guy said he thought it was an old Snap On or Mac. The demensions are 26 wide x 15 deep x 17 tall. He is wanting $60 for it and he has already come down from $150. Besides the back left corner where else could I find any stallings? Thanks guys.

Bob, don't let me stop you if you really want it. I think it would be a good box if the slides are in good shape and there isn't any major rust.

Might even be older then that. I had a Mac box that looked just like that back like when I was a kid working in a body shop back in 1970.

looks like a 1970s Snap-on KRA series box especially with holes on top-left-front for what looks to be location for an absent rectangular badge. if it is Snap-on there will be Snap-on markings on backside of box (not underside). Snap-on markings can be difficult to find and read. if no luck on preliminary inspection, cruise the back of box with magnifying glass at various angles.

I talked to the owner to express my interest. I had to leave town for the weekend or I'd already have looked at it and took it home. If it's still there when i get home I'll go and grab it. If/When I grab it I'll post what of I found. Wish me luck (not like it's a unicorn, but.........).

It's a snap on KRA59, heavy chest. FYI, the bottom 3 drawers have welded in dividers and make storing cased tools a bit of a challenge.

I don't think that's a Mac. The mac that's similar didn't have two rows of double little drawers and the mac oval logo was in the center of the chest "lid" 1-2" above the handle. Wish I'd have never sold mine. I'd bet on it being a snap on.

I picked this up tonight. I'm stoked about it lasting long enough. It is a Snap On KRA-59C made in 78. It needs a good cleaning and some new liners. I may fix the lock and key it like my other boxes. It's not a huge deal for me, but can you still get the emblem for the front? I haven't even started looking yet, so I had to ask. Best part, he let it go for $40:rocker: He had a bunch of dead beats call on it and **** him around. I asked all of the questions that made him feel good about my interest. I showed him where the stamp was and we talked about an older Honda XR75 Like the one I had as a kid. Thanks for everyone's help. One last question, are the dividers in the bottoms drawers there for structure or convenience? I may take one drawers out. If it will destroy the structure, then I will figure out something.

The dividers strengthen the drawer, I wouldn't take them out.

I was thinking the same thing about the drawer strength. I had to ask though. I'm betting it is going to be ok by looking at things. Thanks for the reply!

the correct time period Snap-on rectangular black/silver badge shows up on ebay. the asking prices typically are at least what you paid for the box. some amount of patience and tenacity with regular viewing of listings would most likely bring a reasonably priced example sooner or later.
I have occasionally picked up Snap-on badges at the OldSchool swap meet that I attend regularly. I've also gotten them via beater box purchases from the same swap meet. I've picked up old boxes for less than $20 with the badge being worth more than the amount of purchase for the entire box.

assess the time you can devote to the hunt, decide what venues you are willing to consider for the search and then proceed or not. also consider placing an ad in the 'Wanted!' section of the forum under the heading of 'Garage Sale'.

checking ebay there are currently several examples of your badge (see 'Snap-on emblem') for sale with buy-it-now prices at least $45.00 and higher. there is one actual auction going on that appears to promise a high selling price by the time of auction's closing.

Thanks bsg1 for the info. I looked last night on eBay for the emblems. I wasn't expecting $45-$55 for the badge, but what the hell do I know. This was never intended to be a restore, just a user. Down the road who knows.
