Yeah I'm eyeing this too. I'd only use occasionally and not for real heavy jobs............but I still I wonder if it has any balls??

Hmm... i think i can wait a couple more months for the Bosch if that is the case. Where are the majority of Bosch power tools made anyway?

i think the cordless one is swiss.

alot of bosch stuff was out of switzerland and of course germany. Lately though malasia , mexico and china have been gaining ground.

Euro market stuff is of different production than NA stuff too. so the same tool in Europe might be swiss but mexico or china here.

For example, bosch makes a nice cordless drill. was made in switzerland but i understand that current NA models are from china.

That drives me crazy. I would be willing to pay more if the tools were made in the EU especially Switzerland.

i have several swiss bosch. some malasia. some mexico and one taiwan.

Im as anti china/"foreign" (like Malaysia) manufacturing as anyone here, but bosch really makes a fine product regardless of where its made. (i seriously cant believe i just typed that, but they actually DO watch their foreign plants)

for example my malasian impact is 10x the quality of my mexican 18v dewalt. Its been abused and the chuck still has less runout then the much newer DW.

i hope the mains powered multitool is swiss, but id have no qualms about its quality if it was malasian or taiwan.

Made in Russia isn't bad(or is it now?) I had a Mosin once made in 1943 that I got in 2001 or 02 and it hadn't been rearsenaled or anything. It was very crudely made(you can't imagine how much of an understatement that is...) and I put a few cases of ammo in it rarely cleaned it abused the hell out of it and it just wouldn't fail. Of course now I prefer stuff thats better engineered with good fit and finish but I have respect for "made in Russia."

Also speaking of Panasonic I have a ton of batteries from there that are made in Belgium so is any powertools or accessories made there or elsewhere in the EU?

I dunno, i don´t know of anything that is from there except the Bosch drill (i think this model) and the older Bosch roll forged drill bits but they´re now from China. I heard the cars are not that great and that most consumers there rather buy used japanese cars because they´re better and safer. A russian-german i once worked with said that they only can make machinery and things like tractors etc.

The Panasonic power tools i saw are made in China (drill drivers, impact wrenches) this rotary hammer is made in Japan (the other version maybe too ?). I don´t think that they make Power tools or power tool accessoires here. China, Japan and the old black/grey/yellow models were from Mexico, now China.

I just burned out a HF cheapie $29.95 one a couple weeks ago. I didn't have the extended warranty on it but went right down to HF and bought another one....this time with the warranty.
One day when using tool, it had that certain over heating smell to it. The next day it wouldn't turn at all. I needed tool at time so went and bought another one.
I use mine for some wood working but mainly for cutting and trimming vinyl siding (a lot of vinyl siding) It's paid for itself many times over.
BTW they do come with a set of extra brushes. Mine didn't look that bad but when trying to replace them I broke the plastic brush holder, so that was that.

Translation

Tried to find some more info, nothing in english, % the SuperCut site is in flash and breaks the google translator.

SuperCut kits are major $$ here, so the cordless will likely be even costlier.

Has anybody done an autopsy on a HF, see what fails, quality and fit of internal parts?

It used to be at least, cheap power tools used sleeve bearings and good ones used ball bearings, is that still the case?

There's this guy that I came across on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0033C8CEI/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Pretty much same price as HF's single speed (w/out coupon). I have it sitting in my Amazon cart, but haven't ordered it yet... not really sure if I need a tool like this.

Tell me, why do I need one? :)
Haha, like we need "reasons" to buy new tools.

Oh, you're serious?

It's good for sanding, scraping, cutting, when other tools just won't fit.

Bump. I'm looking at one of these right now. It's a toss up right now between the Dremel and the Rockwell (because I have Lowes gift cards). Anyone tried both?

I have the Fein multi tool it’s about five years old. I use it all the time. The blades are pretty spendy. I use it for really hard places to get into like I built a Murphy bed book case and needed to cut the baseboard without hitting the hardwood floors our punching into the drywall it works perfectly or like cutting down a jamb in place fiddly stuff where you need a great deal of control and a saws all or circular won’t work. They had the patent for a while now it ran out there all kinds of knock offs but Fein is the stuff. I have the sander heads and tile grout remover a bunch stuff I have collected for it and works perfectly every time and if time is $ its worth every penny. It’s one of those tools I will not loan out ether.

I have quite a few Fein tools as I was able to get some pretty nice deals (long story). The shop vac, cordless drill, electric impact, multimaster, etc are all really nice solid pieces. They definitely make high quality stuff.

I've got the HF single speed (67256) and was thinking of buying the Task Force model from Lowes. The HF model is great and mostly meets my needs, but the blades wear out very quickly and I'd like to have a variable speed option which makes the Task Force model very appealing. It says on the box that it is compatible with Fein, Rockwell, Craftsman and with adapter, Dremel. Does anyone have any experience with it? If so, please share. According to the latest flyer, Craftsman Club members get 25% off multitool attachments so if I could use them, I'd pay less than I would for HF blades.

I use a bocsh ps50. I love that thing to death.

Exept the sanding pad could be better.

Where's the PS50 made?

I'm seriously considering getting the Bosch knock-off of the Fein, btw.

But I've been on a Metabo kick for angle grinder and another drill to replace my poor old 20 year old Makita.

I hope the Bosch has a detail sanding attachment available.

Oh hell, I've wanted a Festool detail sander for ages, maybe in 2011 :rocker:

The Bosch MX25EC-21 is really going to be a good option, I used it last month it should compete very well against the Fein Multimaster, better than many of the others. HomeDepot.com does apparently have an exclusive deal on it so that is the only place you will find it. I asked 3 people at the local HD store if there were coming in and they had no idea what I was talking about. But they are in-stock through their website.

The PS10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 that I have are made in Malaysia along with the batteries. The flashlight FL10 is made in china. funny thing is that you can actually tell by the feel of the flashlight that it is made in china, it just doesn't have the same feel as the rest of the stuff. I don't know anything about Malaysia, but it does seem to be better made then the China stuff.
